Our game may be Simply the Best, however some of our so called supporters are Simply Not.
I respect a lot of people on our Fan forum, but to watch some grown adults simply melt down over a 2 point loss and blame a 19 year old kid, simply because of his surname is coming accross as just plain disgusting.
The hate through malicious words, expressions and sentiments from some on here is bordering on disturbed for our head coach and a backup half that happens to be his son. The great experts that reside by their couch and played some local league footy, well done you were probably a super star in your own right, but how many were good enough to play for an NRL club in any grade, and why do you think you know better then highly regarded NRL figures, coaches, co coaches, club CEO's, media personalities, and previous first grade superstars. Not one of the pre mentioned have ever thought of our coach in the terms that some on here express with darkness and downright disgusting demeaner.
Young Jake may not make it in the NRL, and maybe he will, he certainly is not doing much wrong, especially as a young half learning his trade. I dont know Jake, I dont know our coach, and as suggested I dont have any affiliation with the Rhinos club, however what i do know is that any person with two eyes can see the amount of work and dedication these two EELS are putting in 24/7. Any person with two eyes can see a young player improving with every game, a player that is not afraid to actually think and play like a half. He is raw yep, he needs to grow yep, just like nearly 99% of players before him have. There is more upside in a Jake Arthur then a Bryce Cartwright, or heaven forbid a Bevan French or Will Smith or a Jordan Rankin, these players have been given their chance and havnt quite made it. Im all for pointing out a players faults , thats the nature of the beast, thats our game, but not the disgusting hate that some spew here with hidden keyboard warrior immunity. Would you put your real name to your disgusting inuendos and absolutely hateful comments towards our coach and one of our own youngsters. Just remember they are Eels and they are our players and our coaches, they represent us. Id much prefer them representing the Blue and Gold then some of the suppossed supporters here.
Go hard, but go real, not some gutter rubbish that belongs with the dreggs of society. Some on here have gone hard, but are honest and respectful, however some here see conspiracy and vomit vile inuendos. Take a big dose of calm the $&*# down and have a think about it. Your representing Eels fans on a public supporter site.
I saw this today, im not sure who to credit, facebook or TCT pehaps. I hope its cool to share, I thought it apt.

That's simply untrue. There was little to like about our Round 1 performance and losing a winnable game at the death is obviously frustrating. Personally I couldn't care less if Jake's surname was Smith or Jones, you don't carry a specialist halfback on the bench. Just like you don't carry a specialist winger. Conventional wisdom suggests you carry 3 middles / edges and a utility. There are other better and more experienced options available.
SPOT ON! Only clueless fools think otherwise. The fact he was not played, shows that he should not have been chosen for a bench position, plain and simple. I have nothing against Jake, I hope he becomes the best thing ever, but he at present is not. You can be fit, one of the best trainers ever as people like 60's regularly post. That does not mean you can convert and play NRL level football. I hope he gets there, truly do, but BA made a very poor choice here in my opinion at this time of his sons career.
I think that is the point !. I also believe JA should not have been on the bench because we don't need to carry a back up half but some do tend to go all Putin and want to destroy the name Arthur. It is round 2 and we had a 2 point loss which JA can't be held accoutable for because he wasn't on the field. There is a chance we could cop another loss this weekend but it is still very early in the season so as much as I would be disappointed, I won't be writing us off just yet.
Last season we won 9 of 10 to beging the season and finished 6th. Manly lost their first 4 and finished 4th.
I don't think the plan was to have JA on the bench. I think he was on the bench because Moses brought a slight niggle into the game. If Moses had been fully fit the bench would have been as originally named. We didn't play well but there are some positives. NB looked good coming back from injury. Simonsson is showing signs of improvement. I don't like the defence of Ice on the Edge and Makatoa but that will be solved when Niukore comes back in with Ice back to the bench in place of Makatoa. I can understand the frustration of some of JA on the bench but we don't know the injuries etc that players are carrying that drive team selections and the negativity against JA/BA after a 2 point loss in round 2 is a bit OTT.
They miss that point, he was there to cover halves, every other position was covered.
Don't think that point has been missed, the question is why not have a player who covers halves + other backline positions & doesnt require a halves reshuffle if a winger (for example) gets injured?
Also, if Moses is carrying a niggle, surely he should be rested as its round 2 & he is too important to our chances to risk. I dont buy he was carrying a niggle so we used a bench spot purely to cover his position myself, but maybe you're right. If it was a final, maybe, but again it was Round 2.
Precisely
Well how the hell can you be so vocal in your defense when you miss so many games?
Hand on heart I haven't missed a Parra game since I was like 20. If I didn't watch it live I always watched it on replay.
Bingo, Muttman. Always the voice of reason.
Agree Mutts, regardless of son, no son, picking a specialist half on the bench at anytime, let alone against a physical team like Cronulla is madness, compounded by then not using him. Name is really not the issue, its footy smarts at question here
