Now the question is rhetorical I know.....but quiet simply the coach should be answering it.

Putting Makatoa, Greig, Murchie and they make no running metres....why cant we just put on tacklers? Who etc

Finally how many tries to we give up through our wingers and one of our centres? Why is not Simmonsson in the centres and Waqa on the wing, the last try Manly scored, sorry the one before again Waqa was out jumped in the centres. Sivo's grasping at air in half his tackles.

Finally the critics of Hodgson are blind, he is a much better alternative to Mahoney, the try Hodgson scored he ran in more clear air than Mahoney did in a season last year. He is working for us and is not the reason we are being scored against the way we are.

Yes poor refereeing has cost us 2 of the 3 games but good sides make their own luck.....we are far from being a good side yet!

  • Fair question, Poppa. Scratching my head to work out how we've scored so many points with underperforming halves. That said, Moses showed class with two timely passes tonight. Brown has been a disappointment so far this season.

Have to disagree re: Hodgson. His service has been very clunky, and he's made some pretty poor errors. Reed's service out of dummy half was swift and accurate. I'm wondering if Hodgson is simply not fitting into our current system? If so, why change from Mahoney?

Lots of head scratching these early rounds. And when results don't go the way we want, it only adds to the frustration. But I'll still be there to cheer 'em on next week.

    • Hodgson would be on half of Mahoney's money and yes Hodgson still has not figured who his go to men are  yet. I said to myself watching this game....didn't he watch all our games last year, he has an ingrained style just the same but those tries keep adding up.

PS Why Brown continues to be disappointing he threw 2 try scoring passes as well!

  • Lol so one good JH moment is enough for you to ingore the countless other shit things he does?

  • I thought Makatoa was very good tonight. Momosia is a reserve grade for the rest of his life. Murchie is a decent bench option. Greig for someone his size is quiet useless.

    • EA, your a person who doesn't understand the game and always have been, you have no idea when it comes to watching players.....answer the question,  why are we getting murdered with 30 points being scored, your too concerned with listening to some of the ones on here that have already made up their minds, learn to be objective and you will see a lot of the nuanced things that hodgson does, yes as Timbo pointed out he is still clunky but so far ahead of Mahoney, you will see the difference later on in the season when we can learn to keep the opposition to two tries a match.....its not the hooker letting in 5/6 a game sport and read the heading!

      • Mostly agree poppa. But while Hodgson does not directly miss the tackles that result in tries, I would argue the lead up plays where we lose the ruck are his fault. His tackle isn't strong enough compared to Mahoney. We need to control the ruck better and improve our goal line defence. The attack will come.

      • LMAO I understand the game very well. JH was poor in many moments thi game. I am objective. I was actually one of the people who was optimistic about JH signing. But he has been dismal and BA has to cop some blame for thinking he can play 80minutes espically in this heat. I still have some optimism for JH but he should not be playing 80mins. I will be happy with around 60minutes a game.

        • I think Hodgson could be a really valuable 14, could play in halves if need be and can make use of his positives in short stints. Maybe 10 either side of halftime.
I was a believer but he could be much better in 14. Need to find a cheap strong young 9. Maybe sticky will want to offload Woolford? I'm sure there is a good 9 out there who just aims up in D.

          • Asi and Dunster will replace Simo and Waqa in a couple weeks. If we could get Momirovski that would be great.
hopefully Sironen rumors are true too. With a crafty experienced old head in 14, all of a sudden we look really interesting

            • Some light at the end of the tunnel Jed. I like this.

"The Panthers just re-signed / about to re-sign May on 500k per season, and have re-signed Tago on 750k (reportedly) at centre. Our 3 centres probably don't reach 750k combined.
So while they've developed great wingers as you mentioned, they've also…"
