Simmonsen at centre

Are we liking this?

The last couple of weeks i think he has been good, very good... If he can string 6-7 games together, he could be a solid centre for us. Is this his postion for us rather than winger? Honestly last night i think he proved he can make this position his.

Also, i liked Ogden off the bench.. he is a big unit and with more games, he can really be a solid bench player for us

  • Been saying it since the start of the year that Simonsoon should be our centre. His carry's from our end of the field have been stronger as well. He shows good physicality at centre which is something Blake or Russel could not show. Yes they scored against him but it was against the best ball player and form centre of the NRL. Importantly, if he is unavailable, Asi should be his replacement and not Russel.

  • 100%  on both  accounts  fiddly,  as mentioned last night simmonson only  22  , and loads more potential.

    • He is 25 years old?

    • I think they said he debuted when he was 22, so it feels like he is way older.

  • Definitely a better centre than winger and Russell performed well on the wing to.

  • I think Simonsson is playing well in that role but still believe that Wing is where he can contribute the most.

He has all of the traits a Winger needs to make an impact.

I would like to see him take one wing and Sivo or Russell on the other. Sivo is as good as he ever will be but Russell is improving every week.

Willy P partners Bailey on one side.

If Russell is paired with a big strong bully of a Centre like Bradman Best, I think that would be awesome.

    • Russell isn't the best defender though, he was easily beaten a few times

    • Nope Simonson at centre is good not on the wing. He has shown that in all his games for us. Russel is not a centre. He doesnt have the physicality in defence. The guy arm grabs and got beaten a couple times easily. Luckily Penisini made the cover tackle for one of them. Simonson makes strong contact with his shoulder which is what u need. He also has the speed to slide quickly.

    • Surely you jest Jed.

Simonsson on the wing was a complete failure.

He would constantly come in and opposing wingers would have a clear run to the sideline.

Happy to have him in the squad at centre but never again on the wing.

      • I trust you both so I guess I'm wrong.

I always thought his issues on the wing were fixable and he is just simply a bit more confident at centre.

He is very quick and powerful on returns. Jumps well. Good hands (while his confidence was high). Seems like an ideal Wing athlete.
