Simba Marata Niukore

I read on NRL page that Marata is being touted by other clubs.

Anyone know if there is meat in this story?

We are surely locking him up....right?

  • Yeah thanks

  • Word is that the Warriors have offered him massive coin and he is gone.  I hope it is not true.

  • I reckon he will leave for the extra money and to be closer to family

  • It comes down to whether they want to win a comp, or go to a club that hoping to improve in the coming years.

    • Warriors is where you go to end your career, I would hope players know this. But they are building well.
Maybe in a few years he go there and retire, wearing a premiership ring or two. 🤞🏽🤞🏽

  • Fair enough he's considering his options. He's coming into his prime contract years and there's nothing wrong with testing the market to see what you're truly worth. I get the feeling if the club sees him as a priority then he'll stay. But in recent years it's very rare for the Eels to outbid rival clubs for our own players. So don't be surprised if there's a bit of to and fro. The journos will try and create as much havoc as possible.

    • Absolutely,  he's coming into his prime,  came through the grades and is the type of player we really have to keep.

    • That pretty much sums it up, he may be worth more to other clubs, we are well stocked in his position, it will be up to him to decide if playing for the Eels means more to him than playing for a desperate team who would expect him to change their fortunes.

Powerful clubs won’t be paying overs, so his options are to stay with the Eels at his market value or take the extra cash and hope he’ll be happy playing for a team who would most likely never play in finals series.

  • Oh no he is so important to us and always put in 100%. doesn’t surprise that there’d be lots chasing him, If it’s to return home well fair enough not much we can do.  But hope it’s not for a guaranteed start spot in his rightful posi- which is only something he has been getting of late. Maybe Papali’i shift was a bit to do with that as well. If it’s money simple we keep him under the old ’taking unders to stick together ‘ line, just like they all can somehow do ;)

  • Firstly like most here im an unabashed Marata fan, but, he is exactly the kind of player the Storm do not overpay to keep. As good as he is he isn't a difference maker. If the Warriors are going to offer stupid money then we need to let him walk.
