Silvertails Site 5th June

Following Manly's loss to the Broncos, I thought I'd have a read of their website to gauge their reaction to a loss which was close to their worst of the year. I had no intention of registering and stirring, I just wanted a quick idea of their thoughts. In many respects their comments weren't too different to ours after a loss, although I would suggest that some of their posts were a bit extreme. They are on the money with regard to:* their forwards - probably the worst pack in the comp* the inclusion of the young Trovojavic (spelling?) brothers - I wonder if the second tier cap impacts the selection decisions.* the age of their playersThey are a bit harsh with regard to:* Toovey - he may have lost the dressing room but his record up to this year was enviable. If they won't play for him then he should probably move on, and he should judge that. If they think Barrett would do better with that roster of forwards they are kidding themselves.* Foran - he has been injury plagued this year and is playing with a poor pack. They are hating on him, yet he almost single handedly won last weeks game and, I thought, did a solid job against the Broncos.* Mattai - not much love for him after the game. He missed some tackles after being injured. A bit rough on him* Lyon - I'm no fan of him for obvious reasons but he came in for some criticism. He's ageing but deserves respect from them ( I'm even ignoring my own thoughts about Karma here!)I also noted a lot of criticism about their wingers. They basically regard Hiku and Taufua as slugs. I haven't critically analysed these blokes enough during their career so I wont say whether they are on the mark on not with these comments. I would just wonder whether there were similar comments about these wingers when the team was travelling better. So there's my review of the match day blog comments made on the fan site of our great rivals. As I said, it had some similar elements to our own reactions. The question that I would pose to them is how they would deal with their team having the type of seasons that our club and fans have had to endure. And before any of their fans start making any comments rubbishing Parra, I would remind them that their roster won't be a quick fix and they may have problems that could come with private ownership of unsuccessful teams. They have already committed a huge chunk of their money on one player. Let's see how that works out for them.

    • Well tele thats not exactly true, TD went into hiding for 5 months after the dogs lost the GF and he never turns up here after a loss, maybe 1 in 10.

    • TD went missing for months after the eels beat the dwogs last year.
      I remember!
  • They are in denial over there, Its all Forans fault he cant do anything right, DCE is a legend worth every penny.

They even say Foran will backflip because he is desperate to stay.

They whinge more about , Dessie, Bulldogs, Eels, Choc, than there own real problems.
