Signings/ rumours for 2022 and beyond

Morning all, just wanting thoughts of who we need to sign or are rumoured to sign for 2022 and beyond. We need some new blood to take us to the next level. We just seem to be going through the motions and seem Predictable in attack.

  • Imo, we need a strike centre, although Will did well last week, so maybe he is going to be our strike centre in time, but we need pace in the backline overall. I think our forwards are fine. The only player I am aware we are talking to is Woods, although I think he would be another Alvaro. Too soft for mine.

    • I don't have a problem with Woods.  Former rep player who would come extremely cheap and play his role off the bench or as a back up.

By buying players like woods who come cheap the roosters managed their salary cap very well by allowing them to have their big names, then instead of paying salaries for above average players they find discounts for experienced players such as the Morris twins saving a couple hundred thousand in the process.  The other way is not to pay to much on potential which as a club we have figured out.

Now we need to master the art of identifying discount opportunities for players who complete a role.

Woods will never be a first hit up kid of foward but with a quick play the ball and offload can set up attacking plays later in the set.

  • Even if we got some strike attacking back, who's to say the attack wouldn't be coached out of them.

    • I was thinking that, but I didn't say it. lol

  • We were interested in murray taulagi but he's set to resign with the cows

  • The problem is we are carried by our middles RCG, paulo, Brown, Niukore coupled with our fullback Gutherson. The rest of the team are first graders but not of the same standard. Luckily Mahoney and Papalii are now close to the same standards so there is that good news, but the rest aren't consistent enough to get us to the next level, ie a real premiership threat.

  • We need consistent performances from the players as well. Losing to teams like dragons, raiders who are doing pretty shit, is not acceptable. I watched panthers games against the broncos early in the season, and even last week where they didn't perform well but they know how to grind out a win. That's the difference between good teams and top teams.

We need a decent half back-up, cause I can't stand watching JA playing. He is garbage. I'm sorry I'm going to be blunt, but he's nowhere near ready for FG. The club needs to look at options, if BA is not willing to start Will Smith in Moses's absence.

We need both a half and a strike centre yes. Somehow get rid of Waqa, allow Penisini to develop, cause he looked promising and sign someone.

  • I think our centres should be

    Will Penisini & Dylan Brown

I think parra need to buy a quality 5/8 or fullback as Gutho may be an excellent option at 6 less pressure on Moses

also a quality winger hopefully semi returns after winning Olympic gold with Fiji

    • Yup. Dylan lacks the hustle to be a 5/8. Gutho may not have the passing game but he's got the go!

New fullback and Gutho to 5/8.... where to find a good fullback though?

  • Need to chase a ball playing 6.

I think a shorter season and stand alone rep period is the best option and over due though."
