just read that To'o has asked Penriff for a release to go to the Tigers. Penrith players feeling a bit underpaid me thinks while Cleary chews up all the coin .

Thing about that is it is no reported anywhere. That is news, the fact it has not been reported anywhere says to me it's fake. Well, for now.

Eels failed to find decent replacements for Papalii, Niukore & Mahoney. They don't need a roster overhaul, just need to fill the following positions and replace Lussick/Hands, Lane and Sivo.
(1) Crafty dummy half (2) damaging back rower(s) (3) winger with speed
Can work with the current players we have, with Lomax coming. Need to seriously fix up the defence.
Dylan Lucas indefinitely. He'd be number 1. He was back to the bench last week I think for the Knights? Surely a good time to strike?
I wouldn't go near Stefano personally, but thats just opinion.
Stefano is a good player and all, but he is big, he is a little slow laterally (quite quick in a straight line) & there are some red flags with effort areas, but, that could be the 'Tigers effect' also?
Im hoping Ryles looks to revamp the body shape a little through our middle, and how the Eels play in general, the game has changed & we have been slow in adjusting.
Have mentioned before but Fonua Pole would be one i'd target & a winger, unless the Eels feel Richard Penisini / Ethyn Martin are going to play there in 2025? EA / LB?
Just opinion, but we can't rest on our Lomax laurels, we still need more work fixing the outside backs.
If 2023 wasn't a big enough alarm bell in the outside backs for MoN, 2024 has been a real slap in the face.
A starting 9 - Jayden Brailey. Hands is only a depth option and MA is still learning and may follow BA.
A mobile backrow that can play centre incase of injury mid game - Dylan Lucas. As you said NoS he may want a permanent starting spot which knights cant offer him
Back up halfback - With Moses a certainity for origin next year we need a quality backup halfback and throw out wtf happened this year. I would be looking at Jake Clifford or Tom Duffy from cowboys. This may be a hard signing as both will be fighting to take Townsend spot next year. Clifford is a good back up whilst Duffy is young and been great in qld cup with his organisation and kicking game for past year or so. Even people like Aiden Sezer (experience but will he come on low money as depth) and Ronald Volkman (young and need to check his injury. Was one of the best halfbacks in cup last year. Just needs a bit of help translating it into the NRL). Gutho could be viewed as a backup 5/8.
Forwards - I think Ryles is tempted to just see out the contracts of our current props and develop our fringe and junior forwards like Guymer, Moretti, Tuivita, Pryke, Brazel, Mataele and Parker. These players with Hopgood and Tuilagi suit the type of forwards we need. I would offload 2 of our current big money middles. I would not go after Utoikamanu for his price and because he is not the defensive type of middles we need with good leg and lateral speed. Also espciially since we are apparently keeping Paulo. I am sure a good money forward will come on the market by the time RCG, Paulo, Joe O, Lane contracts expire.
Outside backs: The most pressing issue. Bye bye Harper, Lumelume (in cup blocking our youngester), Cini, Loizoi (never rated him), Dunster (poor guy. If I was him, I would go to another club in reggies and reinventmyself as a centre/backrower). Bye Mulitado as well. Give Alamadine and Richie dev deals. AMS a train and trial contract. Tago a top 30 contract as a back up centre. Resign Simmo. Shop Sivo only if we are able to buy a good player like Iro. Russel depth. Martyn is the real interesting one. A solid finish to the year could push him into NRL contention and than a solid pre-season and he could be our first choice winger next year. Play style similar to Khan Peirara but with even better tackle busting ability and footwork. I got high hopes on him if we get his development right.
Next Year:
I know the reports said we shop of RCG and Matto so I will do that o try keep it realistic. However, I would shop Lane and Paulo before them two.

* Simmo out for start of year with ACL. Richie to be pushing for cup side.
It's great to hear those developing forwards are more in the style we are after, haven't seen much of Tuivita, Pryke, Brazel or Parker.
Doorey is an interesting one. Shows glimpses? You can see why Ryles might be ok with Matterson leaving. I feel Matto is underrated on here a little, but, Moretti / Hopgood / Guymer & Pryke, we seem pretty covered there?
Aiden Sezer is a great call. He'd be a very handy pick up.
Tuivita and Pryke do seem a bit far of since they are not cup players or fringe cup players. Tuivita is your big agile body. Pryke is a modern middle but still needs to work on his defence. Brazel is a defensive minded backrower. Not the best attack but strong and aggresive line speed. Parker is like Makatoa but younger. They all need a decent amount of development still so hopefully after a pre-season and time in cup, they can be relied on mid 2025 if needed in NRL.
Doorey had a poor game against Titans. I still think he has a future as a depth player for now. I like him off the bench in the NRL and we also used him on the right when he is a left edge backrower. So I think we completely used him wrong against the Titans.
I am with you on Matto. Out of all our forwards, he probably is actually our strongest 1 on 1 defender. I think he still has value even for his coin if Ryles can get his attitude right. As I said, Paulo (on way too much coin) and Lane (inconsistent and defensively so slow) are the first two I would have gotten rid off
Ok cool, so all still a bit off yet, which is understandable.
Agree completely on Doorey, he was poor last week. He can run a good line though & seems to have ok pace, like you, feel there is a decent bench option there or injury cover at least.
"Hopefully in the wet conditions Gamble overplays his hand trying to cement his place in the side having replaced Cogger for the knights.
It's not the weather for our sideline to sideline play of late so our middles are going to have to work…"
"Lol, hahaa, NOS. I'm all for inclusivity, equity & the odd tree hug (inspired by my wife's hydroponic, aqua-fishpond, organic ecosystem). But that was a test. So far, you're the only one to have read the blog past the title. "
"Thanks Mutts. We need a win badly - so do they. Losing is a hard habit to break. You just made me wonder ...
R1-2: L-L, blowouts conceding 44 ppg
R3-5: L-L-W, three weeks of fight, conceding 22.3 ppg
R6: L blowout, concede 50
R7-10: W-Bye-L-L,…"
