Should parra move round 1 clash to Homebush?

With all the hype this year, and especially with the way the Dragons bowed out last year, if promoted correctly by the NRL, this game has the potential to break home ground records for club games.(excluding double headers)

Whilst i think having the home ground advantage is important, i don't think winning or losing round 1 should have a significant impact on the year. Why not move this game to a bigger ground and make much needed $$$ for Parra ?

As we all know, the dragons supporters will travel to watch their team play. Add to that the neutral supporters who want to see a good game of footy, i think a crowd of 50,000 is not unrealsitic.

I know many Dragons supporters who are still bitter about last year. Lets move this game and make a profit from these bitter Dragons supporters

  • I know its selfish but I hate watching footy at Homebush its deadset like watching a bunch of ants going around.

    So its a no here.
  • yeah i dunno, it makes financial sense for the clubs... and dragons fans are whingeing about hypocrasy. But if they want 'revenge' they can wander into our territory and beat us on our home ground, just like we had to beat them on theirs. If they had have moved the game, then we would definately move ours.
  • Yes, I think they should. 50k worth of ticket sales, food & beverage etc would be a boon for the club, plus would make our end of year average crown stats look really, really good. Would probably even move the many Rd 2 game there too.
  • Homebush sucks.

I say keep it at Parra, get our season off with a resounding WIN in front of a majority Eels crowd.
  • One thing that always gets forgotten when this pop up is all clubs have already sold corporate hospitality packages. I know Osborne thought having the two big Home matches to open the season was going to help a lot in selling these so you just can't screw your corporate sponsors around like that. they would have invited their guests and likely have their days organised around Parra Stadium so you can't just say 'Oops sorry, we've decided to move the game you better go let all your guests know'.

Plus, I can't see why you would ever give up your home ground advantage for a game like this...
  • i love seeing a packed parra stadium
  • bullcrap now that i have me season pass i cant wait to get 2 parra stadium on the 12 march
  • Does'nt Parra and Saints hold the record for the largest club crowd? I know it was a double header but i'm sure it was over 100,000! I would still prefer it played at Parra. What is the record there?
  • Please dont start about homebush .. Round 1 will nothing be better than 6.000 + members and other people right in parra stadium with Tony Bongo & The Swarm and the BGA SQUAD = CANT WAIT FOR ROUND 1 .. But i have to agree the prices at parra can get annoying but nothing will go more worse than ANZs prices for beverages.
  • if 50,000 is likely at homebush it should be moved. Anything less though and it just sucks.
