Well he signed Corey Norman and Bevan so we cant be too dissapointed with him
When Ricky was being blamed for wrecking the club just after he told 12 blokes they were no longer needed, I thought and shared with a few people that I believed what Ricky gave as an explanation. "We need to clean out the place to rebuild and to start again".
When Ricky left to go to his home club, I wished him well, he'd done what we needed at this club at that time.
When Brad Arthur came back to his home club it was ready for him to rebuild and thankfully he has shown that he was the man to do it.
Thank you Ricky for being astute enough to identify the potential of Bevan French and for knowing how to get him here.
It was the way ricky did it that was the problem, it was appalling, not only because of the disgraceful way the players were treated in front of their peers but also because it left our salary cap in tatters. About half of the players he whiteboarded were still under contract and he let the world know they weren't wanted at the eels which was an open invitation to other clubs to sign them up for next to nothing and parra will pay the rest.
^ this
Ricky Stuart's projector led to the club going over the cap, obviously given the OK by the former board but even so he released so many contracted players.
I understand the hurt and perceived unfairness to the contracted players and the position it put the club in regarding the salary cap, no argument there. As for how it was done is a matter that has not been explained by Ricky and will probably never be explained in public. So we only have the one side to that argument.
My point is the current situation we enjoy is a direct consequence of all of that, including the poor corporate and legal decisions that the board made at that time. All of these things contributed to our current wellbeing as a footy club.
As for Ricky, he will get his Waterloo again this year and every year that we beat his Raiders just as he did once last year.
