  • I'm not sure when he says come back, he was specifically referring to the Eels, I took it as the NRL from reading the quote.
  • That's like saying I will divorce my wife, but one day will be back with her.
    • Like Orlando Bloom probably said when he divorced Miranda Kerr
  • It's a business I wouldn't turn down a contract where I only have to pay 8%tax instead of half my wage it's the difference of 400 000 dollars for him, his stupid if he didn't follow it.
    • Geez that's a lot Rhys...yeah I love the Parra Eels but I'd take it too I think.
    • Spot on Rhys. The French tax system means his net pay might be double his Eels offer. At that point, holy cow, what would a rationale dude do, especially if a court conviction would mean suspension here but is not enforceable in France? It's also someone to note that, given all the drama of mystery goings on with Semi, does it change things if he says take me back next year?! Can we really say the Eels would not benefit from recruiting Semi in 2019, probably as a centre?
  • i know it's not popular opinion, but i'd welcome him back with open arms....providing he doesn't dog it on the park this year.

i choose to accept the professional nature of the game, and semi was in a unique situation of playing in a position that was never going to reward what he was contributing....so it is what it is imo.

    • Count me in, too. I agree with the idea that if he puts in all year he is reaffirming that he would be a good bet. What will be the status of Jennings and Taka in 2019? Can we truly say we would not like to see Semi shifted to centre, at a late 20's stage in his career and probably upskilled in terms of kicking by Rugby? We have already seen instances where Semi played the role of centre im attack and I think it safe to say he would be a serious threat
  • Yeah he said on TEN news that he would like to come back to the eels.

  • I'm with you Razor, it's a business and he has held up his end of the bargain when playing for us. Unfortunately he is a great player who can't get his real dollar value while playing on the wing. I believe centre is where he needs to be for the dollars he requires but likely wing will be his best position. I'd welcome him back any day provided he was under 30yrs of age, injury free and still playing the way he does. "Come on home when you're ready Semi. We will leave the light on for you".
