Its time to put Semi to fullback and move Gordon to left wing. Semi has the fitness, the ability, strength and power to be the best fullback in the NRL. His class in broken play is exceptional. I have said for a while now Semi would be great at the back and when he linked up with French it was a great play. Gutherson and French would be good at fullback but neither will ever be as good as Semi. Even without Jennings stifling Semi tonight, Semi didn't have much ball (only 12 runs) and I would prefer Semi touching the ball 25 times or more a game, which he would do at fullback. I also think having Semi at fullback would help out Gordon defensively. Leaving Semi on the wing is the equivalent to have leaving Hayne on the wing earlier in Hayne's career.

That must have been a planned move - Semi to French.
I want to see it again but got the impression that just before Semi passed to French he had a surprised look on his face like "f#** that worked - can't believe it- so easy"
It looked a set play. When Semi ran across the field the outside backs of Souths shit themselves and held their ground and compressed their defence to discourage Semi from stepping off his right foot through a half gap. If any other Parra player did what Semi did the Souths backs would had slid sideways and closed off French. Semi at fullback linking with French on the right and Jennings on the left could be very destructive.
Still being Mr Negative again Ham (things don't change). As I said above both Gutherson and French would be good at fullback, but neither are as good as Semi or will ever be as good as Semi. Like Hayne, Semi had to do his time on the wing, but now is the time to move him to a more important position where he gets the ball more (12 runs is not enough). Semi's salary will need to triple for us to keep him and for him to be earning that kind of money he will need to get more ball. French and Gutherson will need to wait their time.
French will never be a power returner of the ball that Semi would bring on kick returns. French is a hole runner and his ability is straight line speed on the end of a play. With the modern day compressed defence French is most affective on the end of a backline overlap play where his straight line speed can best be used. Semi is the clone of Hayne in Hayne's earlier years with move power. We don't need to chase Hayne because we already have the equivalent at the fraction of the price.
Not sure if i prefer french or semi at fullback long term. But Semi can create plays as well as finish them. he doesnt get enough opportunity to create on the wing so part of his talent is waisted
I've been saying for a while now that Semi needs to move, especially after we signed Jennings (been saying it since round 1). If you think Semi and his Manager are happy that Semi is stuck on the wing outside Jennings you are naïve. Semi wants to be the best player in the NRL and he won't do that on the wing. At fullback he has that chance. Common sense is not always common.
