For those long standing supporters who have followed the Eels through thick and thin (Mostly thin), who would like to get their season tickets at the new stadium in the western stand can forget it. They are exclusively for the corporates.

This is a decision by the State Government, the owners not the Eels F.C.

You can imagine all the Pollies friends and their developers sponsors getting these seats whilst the long serving supporters miss out.

I urge all supporters to voice your protest through media, local members etc against this injustice to Eels supporters.

  • Where is this coming from?  There are and were always boxes and seats set aside for corporates, but the main outdoor stand seating is still predominately for supporters. IIRC there were 2000 seats that were to be allocated for corporates and the rest for the common people.

    • Straight from Parra Eels football club

    • This is nothing new and was always the case. There are still plenty of seats for the public.
    • I find this hard to believe. There would not be enough corporates to fill the Western side of the ground. There were not enough corporates + members to fill the Western stand at Parra Stadium

I think that the Eels would be happy to have the problem though
  • A long awaited Premiership would be better than a multi million dollar stadium and supporter special seats. I would rather watch the Eels win the 2018 Premiership sitting at the old Cumberland Oval Hill than wait another 35 years sitting in a multi million dollar stadium any day of the week.

    • Oh how i miss the hill.

    • Monto, likely true, as the old Cumberland had atmosphere that is not found in the modern stadiums, I had enough splinters in my butte that's hard to forget, but I doubt a lot of the modern generation would go there these days.  I've been at Cumberland with a crowd of 1800, and when the old record attendance was broken, the atmosphere with a small crowd was ok but that would equate to perhaps 5000 at a new 20000+ modern stadium, and 30000 at ANZ

  • Exactly, Colin I have fond memories too of the Old Cumberland Oval! No comparison to these modern stadiums!

  • Agree mate!

  • Where's the link?

The western side of the new ground always had provisions for sponsors and other corporations in a specific area, and not the whole of the western side of the grounds.

Think you need to check what is said on the news bit that you have got this information from.
