Hands is a nice extension and wouldn't have cost much. I'm not sold on Sean Russell yet. Has a lot of flaws in his game he needs to work on, I want him to be successful just not sure he has it in him. I won't complain but I'm hoping locking up Russell didn't cost much at all.Â

Extended by a year, gives us time to develop some of the up and coming players and also gives Russel an opportunity to show his new coach if he can learn to eliminate some of of those flaws. Both these signings make sense at the moment.
Russell is a good NSW Cup winger/centre. As 4th choice first grade winger or something like that he's fine.Â
Hands I think can be a break out a bit.Â

Russell is a solid backup. If he's in the starting 17 we have a problem. But he's a guy who could have a steady NRL career. He's not super brilliant, but he'll get the job done.
I think we all know that Hands is a stopgap with very good young hookers coming along , every club needs back ups and he is quite o k for that ,I don't know why so many are down on himÂ
"Exactly mate, he's gone and recruiting and contract sagas still remain. He had a boss, that boss is supposed to be the guy calling the shots.  If he didn't agree with the JA / MA shit , it was his job to call it and supply us with better options .…"
"I agree with you Wiz.
People act like BA won us 5 spoons and was the one responsible for our salary cap breach. Yes he was our coach for 2 seasons too long and made a couple of shit calls over those years. I was pissed with the JA selections and…"

Hopefully they are both on minimum contracts as they are backups at best.
Why is Hands not as good an option as Brailey? Or ...why is a reserve grader at Newcastle a better option than Hands?
You won't win a comp with Hands at hooker

Hands up for a big year in the new environment.
Same with Ryley Smith
Geez I hope Smith kicks on. Like his style.
