Sean Russell

Thought he was really strong in the centres and hope he stays there for the season. Where does this leave him moving into next season but ? Just not sure if he's a good enough finisher on the wing but he is a solid nrl centre. Thoughts fellas ??

  •  We seem to be now in a situation where out Wingers have turned into better Centres. i.e. Simmonson and Russell are both better at centre than Wing. And we have signed a Centre, add to that Gutho may need to move to Centre and Sivo is no longer a first grade Winger. We have no worthy Wingers and too many options for Centre next year. Lomax is literally better on the wing for us in this scenario.

    1. Blaize/Gutho

    2. Lomax

    3. Penisini

    4. Gutho/Blaize/Russell

    5. Simmonson

    • Bailey work rate and taking those tough runs makes me think he's better on the wing, fairly safe under the high balls and really fast. Mowed down Walsh easily. I'm not sure what to do with Russell tho and we need to move sivo on asap.

      • Did anyone else think Mam changed his line to impede Bailey trying to chase down Walsh? It was subtle but I felt Baily was impeded

        • Mam changed his line, but got away with it... But if Bailey had played for the penalty, i.e. ran into Mam and fell over, it gets overturned for sure.

          • if Moses / Gutho was playing, definitey would have whinged for it to be overturned lol

        • He changed his line but he was a support player after passing,  I have absolutely no issue with what he did.

  • He's young enough to transform into a back rower. Has the right body shape for it, and doesn't mind the hard work coming out of our end.

    • Can see this happening, bit more size and he'd be good on an edge.

    • Maybe he could do this, similar to Aiken who was once a centre but now plays edge forward and if anything he might be slightly smaller than Russell.

  • I always though Russell would make a great Centre based on his size. His running style and work rate suits Centre. He is not overly fast, not overly athletic yet has the size to be better on the inside. When he first played Centre it was only his 4th NRL game. Now has had more experience in the NRL he was more confident in the role.
