A message to Gutho - If the club is keeping negotiations inhouse, tell your dickhead manager to keep his mouth shut.
STICKING POINT IN EELS SKIPPER’S EXTENSION TALKS
Parramatta captain Clint Gutherson’s extension talks with the club hinge on the length of the deal.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported the Eels are looking to offer an extension of two years, but Gutherson wants at least three and even four.
A two-year extension would take Gutherson through until the end of the 2024 season, but Gutherson’s management want his next deal to take him through until 2026 when he will turn 32.
Gutherson’s extension talks are considered sensitive due to the fact his management and the club were involved in drawn out negotiations the last time he re-signed and he reportedly took less money to stay then.
It is understood Gutherson’s management won’t settle for unders or a reduced number of years this time around.
The club have promised to keep negotiations behind closed doors in a bid to avoid a repeat of the last time Gutherson’s deal was up for renewal.

Well, well done sam on keeping negotiations behind closed doors....not surprising the other key players we need to retain are managed by the same manager i heard. No-one is irreplaceable!
Gutherson has to be axed it's as simple as that. He has absolutely no right to captain the club and no right to put the club through the wringer every time negotiations come up. As a captain Gutherson is an absolute embarrassment to the club, his teammates and the Eels Junior looking at him as a representative of our club.
In my opinion Parramatta should terminate his contract as soon as possible and fuck him off to another club so he can whinge all he likes.
Personally, I was a huge fan of Gutherson and his training edict, but he has lost all respect by keeping Ayub on as his manager after what happened last contract.

I get its a business and he, like everyone else would like a promotion/payrise. But dont play this out publicly, like so many times before. I like Gutho, and hope he stays but gee talk about making a mess of things. Do we see this play out at other clubs? I dont see alot of this sort of chatter about other players. We have a few players in this situaiton and therefore there is a bit on the club for letting it play out like this, so many of our core group off contract at the same time.
Shaping like a do or die year next season for the premiership. Maybe our window will close after 2022 and back to rebuilding. Glad im not involved in cap management etc, id have less hair than i do now. :)
It happens at every other club. Look what the Knights are going through with Mitchell Pearce, the Tigers with Luke Brooks, the Panthers with Api Koriosau, the Storm with Brandon Smith & Harry Grant. This is just the argy bargy of contract negotiations, and sometimes it gets into the public domain.

Not really the same. Gutho is our club captain and needs to work on a higher level. Like Chief said, he needs to be the model example for our juniors.
Think about this, the last great captain we had was Nathan Cayless.
