Schneider info

Good to see 3 Parra boys playing under 20's Origin! Curious however why Schneider wasnt chosen? Too young, injured or just not picked because of form? All reports state he has the goods and I felt he would of been a sure pick. Keen to see how Parry and Stefeno go in particular however.

  • Been asking for info on Schneider for ages and nobody can give me anything lol

Jersey Flegg start strong to defeat Rabbitohs at Ringrose
The Parramatta Eels Jersey Flegg side have put in a strong, dominant performance over the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Ringrose Park on Sunday 2nd June…
  • I may be wrong but I think its his age that is holding him back at the moment, still only 16 I think, its hard to find any info on the Jersey Flegg moreso on the players.

  • Pretty sure he’s 18 maybe 19 now and has been in the NSW teams since the U16s. So yeah it would be interesting to find out why he hasnt made the 20s. Maybe the fact our 20s have been struggling.

  •  That's because the player they picked at hooker is Sam Verrills who has played three games in the NRL this season. With those Under20s sides, if you've played NRL, you generally get picked. Oregon has obviously played NRL, Stefano has played for Wenty and is just a beast of a kid and Parry has spent most of this season at Wenty. It's relatively rare that pure Flegg players like Schneider get picked for Origin.

    • Good info. Thanks

  • I'm assuming he will start playing regularly for our reserve grade (no more Wenty) squad next season and be one of our 4 development players that might crack the top 34 1st July 2020. He has come back from a full on shoulder reconstruction and he is being gradually brought back to play against grown up men, something that did happen for him a bit @ Wenty during the 2018 season. He is being groomed as Mahoney's back up but will he be ready next year, or late next season or in 2021???  Over and over again you hear from those in the know that he's the next Cameron Smith but that is a lot of weight to carry if Kyle lets these claims get to him. For now, I'd be happy if he is as good as Mahoney or just a bit better.

    • You have summed him up well CF, I would rather see him and others given lifts into the top grade as transitional plays. From what I have gleended from reports we have some excellent prospects on the way up, while not wanting to over rate them, with the amount of players off contract both this year and end next year we should be seeing a real new generation of players to take the eels forward. They need management and contract security as well.

      • Exciting times Colin - all these next generattion Eels players coming through and still so much more to come. That Field bloke must be doing a very good job scouting for excellent young players. We also have a strong bunch of big-tall, skillful, hardworking 17-19 year old props, locks and back rowers coming through too and we should start seeing this emergence into the NRL July 1st 2020 / Feb/March 2021 seasons.

  • This is Schneider's first year in Flegg, having missed nearly all of 2018 after getting injured in SG Ball.

Anyway, he's eligible for under 20s Origin again next year.
