Sandow's Back-up

If Sandow is out for the first few games (against some of the top teams)...

Who would you like to see replace him?

Not who should replace him - that will be Kelly.

1. Kelly

2. Quinlan

3. Matterson

4. ZDC

5. Seffa

6. IDG

7. Peats

8. Brad Arthur

Personally I would love to see Matterson get a run - but maybe better a bit later in the year

    • There's a bit of talk that he might not be fit but the general consensus seems to be that come Rd 1, he'll be fine.

  • As much as I'm not a fan of the guy, Luke Kelly.

I don't rate Quinlan as anything but a fullback but the logjam for that is huge.

Matterson & ZDC whilst immensely talented and future first-graders, are not ready for the grind, physicality and level of play in the NRL. Neither has a full NSW Cup season behind them which they need if they are to play, so they can become accustomed to the different style of play compared to the Holden Cup.

And neither Seffa, IDG or Peats have the complete skill set to play halfback.

If BA played halfback in his day, get him in there.

    • I heard BA was too small for the forwards so he must be right to be a half back

and he has coached, captained and played (at the same time) before

So about time he stopped shouting charge and started shouting follow me!

  • Definitely seffa - total brilliance.
  • I'll play 7. But I'll need Ryan Morgan and Joseph Paulo to be overseas that weekend.
  • I would go with ZDC . Kelly has had a fair crack in the NRL and is rated a Wenty player at best. There's no garrantee Sandow will be re-signed and it would only benefit our future outlook if Clay gets to show what he's capable of.
  • In some ways, it could be a blessing that Sandow is out of the pre-season because it means all the halves will get more time and someone like ZDC will get a full game for Wenty and the possibility to show what he's got. If we can have Zach challenging Kelly and Matto challenging Norman, it'll be very useful for the team's overall chances

    • Yeah but not for Manly

For Manly I wanted to see the guys with their head on the chopping block go toe to toe with their would be replacements

    • Personally, I would go with ZDC. He would be the replacement most akin to Sandow. I think the Matterson/ norman combination would lack a little creativity. However, I have not watched enough of ZDC or Matterson to have a confident opinion.
I don't rate Quinlin as a 7. He is a good runner of the ball and 2nd receiver/ distributor, but not a 7. I think he was brought in to cover injuries to the halves (generally) and as another option at fullback - but I would like our young guys to get first crack.
Kelly is is a waste of time to invest in any further.
The rest are not with considering.
    • Quinlan looks like a 5/8 fullback his biggest strength is his running game. If sandow is out than it will be kelly or matto I think ZDC is just not ready yet.
