Sandow playing tomorrow

Dyldam Parramatta Eels Head Coach Brad Arthur has confirmed to the media this morning that halfback Chris Sandow will play for the Blue and Gold in tomorrow night’s Round 14 clash against the Melbourne Storm.Amidst the media speculation earlier in the week, Arthur was quick to shoot down the rumours confirming the number seven had a vital role in the Eels upcoming clash.“Chris is playing,” Arthur said.“Everybody in this club is vital and it’s on a week to week basis and at the moment Chris has a job to do and that’s getting that job done against the Storm,”“We had a brief chat but that is between Chris and I. Chris is in the same spot as he was six weeks ago, and that is anybody who is off contract is playing for one.”Whilst the Storm will be without their stars Cameron Smith and Billy Slater due to Origin duties and Cooper Cronk through injury, Arthur says the Blue and Gold will still be coming up against a dangerous side.“They are a tough team always, but with those ‘Big Three’ out we know they will aim up,” Arthur said.“They have a backs to the wall mentality and this is probably when they are at the most dangerous.”Monday night’s game will be a special one for the Blue and Gold as it marks a milestone moment for Corey Norman, who plays his 100th NRL game, and Anthony Watmough, who plays his 300th.“It is always good to celebrate milestones with a win,” Arthur said.“I don’t know if it makes it any more important, it’s where we sit at the moment and where we are placed after last week. It;s real important we bounce back and do our best to get two points.”The Eels kick off against the Storm at 7pm on Monday, June 15, at AAMI Park.http://www.parraeels.com.au/news/2015/06/14/arthur_confirms_sand.html

  • I reckon Kelly half-back, Sandow full-back. This is interesting . "“We had a brief chat but that is between Chris and I. Chris is in the same spot as he was six weeks ago, and that is anybody who is off contract is playing for one.”

BA is downplaying the controversy but is he also holding out some possibility that Chrissy could still be re-signed with the Eels? Of course BA could be just talking about a contract with another club but interesting he brought that up.

    • Yeah kinda confused me have to wait and see but I can't see him playing with us next year
    • Was wondering if that may happen with Sandow to fullback also Bernie. Think he said Kelly wasn't playing.

Sound not good. Was that right?

    • A person with no limbs is a better option than Kelly
  • Looks like extensive over-reactions & a lot of hot air. Sandow will play, no reference to Sandow leaving before June 30, no reference to Sandow being free to look elsewhere etc, etc, etc.
BA has indicated that the matter lies between Sandow & him.
IMO we will win comfortably in Melbourne. Thats all folks!

    • Yes, Michael, that "free to look elsewhere"{ bizo was never sourced but it was still turned into a headline.

  • That decision is based on performance. The decision has been made.
  • Come on you bunch of coach killers, just win

  • Pressure is on Sandow. A depleted Storm team. Lose this and he should be punted immediately.
    • Pressure is on alright - I am currently 0 from 3 in the tips this round and I have taken the Eels...

No sense punting Sandow though, until we have a fair dinkum alternative.
