Sandow No Try

Can someone please for the sake of sanity tell me how,why was Sandows try disallowed?

As far as I am aware there was no contact between Gower and Buhrer, and no other player was impeded in anyway shape or form. CS beat them through pure speed, ability and class, it is so good watching him play atm. It also seems that every time Luke Patten is the video ref for our matches we seem to get some really bad call against us.

Parra should have won 28-12

  • Sandow ran behind Gower. It's a letter-of-the-law ruling, despite the fact Gower had zero impact on any part of the play - stupid decision.

    • Yep just another pathetic rule introduced by the nrl in a long line of pathetic rule changes. They had the meeting to discuss the ball boy rule on thur night. Does anyone know what came out of that?
    • Taking this ruling to its logical conclusion, any player fielding a kick ought not run across field as that will have them run behind team mates in the front line. A fullback returning a kick always runs behind his team mates but does not impede defence. Paton has a career as a Rugby ref, his ability to find an obscure interpretations is exactly how the 15 man game is controlled, and we all know what a rubbish game that is.
  • Pretty much means that if you break the line and run down field, cut across behind a team mate, run another 20m before you get to the fullback, step him and run over to score, the refs with call this an obstruction/Shepard and penalise you.

Woeful decision by an ex footballer and that's all I can say.....

Actually no it's not, I hope the NRL make some sort of apology given we keep getting smashed by the refs and I'm even more glad for the sake of my home and family that it didn't cost us the win.

No penalty try because Hoppa kept hold of the ball. What a comment to make by the ref!!

and the crusher penalty + stopping to look at others. All delaying tactics by Manly that worked.

Ok, now that all I can say .

Hehe, I can relate to this. So does my wife. We were going home happy. Or going home with my family tippy toeing on egg shells around me lol

    • Those Manly boys really look like they've been taught to lie down and hope for a penalty. It worked for DCE the first time we played this year.
Tepai took a big swinging arm and tried hard to get back up.
DCE was hit in a solid tackle and lay down in the in goal. Ben Smith made a fair tackle and it was called a crusher.
That game showed a lot about us and what makes us tick and a lot about them and their whinge mentality.
    • There was a similar confusing call in a warriors v rabbits match where Konrad hurrell shoulder charged a player and scored. The try stood, but the ref said to the rabbits player, if it was no try it would've been a penalty for a shoulder charge.
  • I thought we were going to cave in after that decision, I chucked a wobbley myself, Im ok now but my cat is dead.

    • And the award for post of the week goes to u bj, that cat comment made me laugh so hard
    • LOL Nice one BJ.

McGuire will be copping the knives all week from the media after that one. Which is complete bullshit, but anything to destabilise them after last year is a good thing."
