SANDOW FEELS THE PINCH knocks back 650k

SANDOW FEELS THE PINCH

OUT-of-favour Parramatta Eels halfback Chris Sandow appears to have bitten the hand that feeds him in more ways than one, knocking back a two-year contract extension with the Eels. Sport Confidential can reveal Sandow was offered $650,000 for an additional two seasons shortly after Kieran Foran was signed earlier this season but rejected it.

With his game-day write-off of a test drive Holden last Sunday, Sandow is now long-odds to earn a start anywhere in the NRL beyond this year. Look for the Eels to partner Corey Norman with Kiwi Test pivot Foran as the blue and gold halves next season.

On the Richter scale of atrocities, crashing a test-drive vehicle on game day and fleeing the scene of the accident rates around the vicinity of a nine.

In fairness, at least Sandow, who was not charged over the incident, still made it to Pirtek Stadium in one piece. In the final year of a four-year contract with the Eels, the no.7’s best chance of a winning a new contract now appears consigned to the UK Super League.

    • I'm sure it's for 2 years. It's probably a polite way to say see you later. Shame.
    • Still too much in my opinion..... He should nearly be paying Parra by now
  • Still think our best chance for a premiership next year is to keep Sandow and partner him with Foran and f Norman off.
    • Think we have to keep Norman in case Foran does turn up and does a Whatmough on us. If Carny comes ....then tell us the good news!!!

  • I have always liked Sandow but his performance and then off field behaviour has become increasingly erratic.
He needs to pull his head in. The only place for him atm is Super League and i feel like he will hate it
  • I bet he wishes he took that offer now!

    • cant believe he would not take that after being fat lazy off field dramas. He must be greedy or thinks he's joey johns.

  • No it does not GB, this has figures and as Snake pointed out we knew the club and Sandow were haggling weeks ago. Personally I would ;like to see Chrissy stay and play off the bench.  I think another NRL club will pick him up.

As for "On the Richter scale of atrocities, crashing a test-drive vehicle on game day and fleeing the scene of the accident rates around the vicinity of a nine."

I'd give it a three out of 10. The journalistic atrocity of calling it an atrocity gets a 7 out of 10. And a recommendation for the journo to consult a dictionary before using words with more than two syllables.

  • This has new information in it , such as the actual $$$ amount. I also didn't realize the crash was on game day. Maybe he had to 'flee' the scene in order to get to the game in time. Also, isn't there usually another person in the car when you take it for a test drive??

  • Yeah, I hope his manager didn't just say no without really talking to Sandow. 650k for 2 years is quite good, considering what he's put us through
