Sandope is the next JT and $300 worse off.

What passes for a law degree these days in Murgon? FFS!http://www.news.com.au/sport/nrl/former-nrl-player-chris-sandow-fined-over-public-brawl/news-story/103a398ff6900fb507333c55e9934e7bFORMER NRL star Chris Sandow has escaped a conviction over a New Year’s Day brawl after agreeing to speak out against violence.Sandow was captured on video fighting on the street in Cherbourg, Queensland, in defence of his non-blood related “brother”, who was allegedly threatened by other men the night before. The 27-year-old was fined $300 after pleading guilty to a public nuisance charge in the Murgon Magistrates Court on Tuesday.Sandow avoided a conviction after he agreed to magistrate Andrew Hackett’s unorthodox request that he become a community spokesman for conflict resolution in Cherbourg, stating he had the potential to be the next Johnathan Thurston.“You hold a position in the community of pre-eminence,” Mr Hackett said.“I think you are a leader, leaders lead — fighting is not leading.“Don’t just play for yourself, it’s what JT (Johnathan Thurston) does.”Sandow, 27, pleaded guilty in the Murgon Magistrates Court on Tuesday to one count of public nuisance.Magistrate Andrew Hackett did not record a conviction after the former Parramatta and South Sydney halfback Sandow agreed to be a spokesman for conflict resolution in the community.

  • Care factor 00000
  • 1st time offender, why would he get a conviction?

    • Bullshite , he didn't get a conviction because he's Aboriginal. I know plenty of blokes ( including a Police Officer who was breaking up a fight whilst off duty and then got caught up in it when one bloke took offence and swung one so my silly drunk copper mate retaliated ) who've been convicted for fighting at pubs without prior convictions .

Even the town bloody Mayor up there is calling the fact he was even pulled up by the law " racism " from what I can see both the judge and the mayor are of the opinion Chris should've gotten a 50 gun salute not be arrested .
    • Isn't Cory Norman aboriginal?
  • The judge must be stupid if his comparing a heap of shit in sandow to Jono Thurston. My god Australia lacks decent law judges
  • another idiot appointed to the bench who is out of touch with reality. sandow v thurston.... seriously.....u goose.
  • That's rubbish wizard. Most first time offenders don't get a conviction unless it's a serious crime. Our own Corey Norman had his conviction overturned because they magistrate was overly harsh in convicting him in the first place.

This crap happens all the time in Aboriginal communities. The only reason sandow was charged was because he was high profile in the first place.
    • Agree Hamish and as a few of us guessed when the story broke, it turns out he was challenged by the other bloke numerous times during the night, as the town elder said out that way theyve their own set of rules and its not uncommon for the two blokes to go out and sort their differences, Sandow helped him up after it, didnt go on with it, nobody from the crowd got involved, they hugged it out at the end, it really was a nothing story imo and my opinion of Chris rose after watching it because plenty of others would have gone on with it.

      • Just cause they have their own set of rules doesn't exempt them from the same laws we are expected to follow . I'm not saying I disagree with blokes having a one on one knuckle to sort differences , I'm just saying that if a white bloke in Kings Cross was caught doing the same he'd probably get 10 years in Supermax these days . When the mayor comes out and says that it's racist that Chris was arrested and the judge makes out he's some kind of mother Teresa it's undeniable he's getting favourable treatment because of his race .
  • All I'm saying is their a good chance this guy picked on Sandow and retaliated, something most of us would have done. So this could have been JT, we know what the paper does to any NRL or ex NRL in this case, any news is good news to them.

Hell On Eels replied to Rabz S's discussion Official: Parramatta Eels upgrade Teancum Brown
"Absolutely, Mitchy. Pay, Dymock, Smith, McCracken—The Big Four—added class and steel. And without the SL war, they don't happen for us. IMO, without Walsh, who saved more tries than he scored, the Broncos probably don't win the 2025 GF."
