Sam Hughes? where is he? what's going on?

Along with Hollis, Hughes was touted by many as the next big thing up front, but i note hes dropped off the teams lists and i sense some hush hush about him.

Maybe he's just injured but i cant find anybody to confirm that, anybody know whats going on with Sam and why the silence regarding him?

  • ATM, he's still shown on the eels team page.

  • Hi Snake, I think there are some reasons for this and the club has ensured there is some privacy around him.

    • Thanks Mitchy.

So its probably depression/mental health or drugs/ behaviour.

Giving him the benifit of the doubt i'll go with option 1 at this point.

Fair enough mitchy, thanks,, that was all i was looking for, good luck to the kid, hope things turn out well for him and hes back in eels colours soon..

      • Agreed on that, from all reports he is a promising player. I have no other details besides this. I am sure he came from Cronulla? no worries mate

    • Mitchy, agree I lets not forget that we had a player last year and others at times that are still in the playing group but have had to deal with personal issues, the club and all associated with it including the coaching staff have kept details in house as it should be kept.

Personally I feel for any player who is affected one way or another and they deserve their privacy, certainly supporters should also be watching and hoping for a positive outcome.  I believe our club does the right thing for all in the teams.

  • Scott Sattler listed his five most promising juniors coming through the NRL and Hughes was one of them.

He described him as a behemoth who runs like Fui Fui Moi Moi.

    Hope he comes good.

  • So I've had it confirmed to me that Hughes is dealing with a few niggling injuries at the moment. Nothing too serious which is why I imagine he's not being listed on injury reports.

    • Thanks super, at leas that destroys the conspiracy side of things.

"De Belin will do a lot of the clean up work, the 3rd man in for our defence. Hopgood is now not alone in that area. He will not be flashy but he will definately do his job."
