Salary Cap with Hayne Gone?

So now we have a bucket load of $$$$$ in the cap with Hayne gone, who do we target for next year? Will Brett Stewart come over with Watmough, Maybe Hoffman?

  • Next year i would go after Brett

  • Yep, for mine everything we do has to be directed at signing Foran and/or Folau

  • Hoppa to fullback.
No to Watmough and no to Stewart.
With the $1.2mill plus up our sleeve we need a good half and a couple of tough nut forwards.
Release a few other dead shits if needed to make it happen.
    • Frank mate I don't think moving Floppa to fullback is an option the bloke has struggled to return to the NRL as anything, let alone the pressure position of fullback , but I guess some here are more than willing to give him another years grace on top of next years to prove himself at fullback! Floppa is a winger, he made his name as a winger, and a fair finisher he was, to throw him in at fullback is a massive call!
  • Brett you and I have butted heads on many topics but this latest comment had me momentarily speechless.
Let me get this straight. You are willing to fuck 2015 in the hope that IF Hayne fails in his goal of playing in the NFL we may get him back in 2016?
So the club will again not move forward because we are still pinning our hopes around what Jarryd does or doesn't do.
He has made his intentions clear and so should the club. Move on and build the club up without Hayne. We haven't won a comp with him it's time to try to win one now without him.
As great as he is it's now time for life without Jarryd, sorry.
  • So Frank, given Hayne has said that this is initially a 12 month plan, if we were to just buy a whole bunch of players and then Hayne wanted to return what would you do? We'd be in the same position we were this year, with a screwed up salary cap. You do exactly what Brett said. But players on front ended deals because we'll know by September next year if Hayne has an NFL contract. Then, if he doesn't look like returning you buy up players.
    • Stiff shit.
He is looking after his interests and ambitions and so should the club.
With his money we may just be able to build a side that's more balanced and not so reliant on a single player that plays only 20 games a year IF he feels like it.
  • Regardless guys we don't put our club on hold for a player no matter who he is or how great he is.
He won't play forever so our club can't just sit back and wait for the guy. He isn't putting his life on hold for our club why should we.
I hate to remind you guys again but it's 29 years next year and 30 if and when he returns.
You guys always see the light at the end of the tunnel but what if that tunnel is on the dark side of the moon.
    Club first players second sorry.
    • You're aging him by a couple of years - he was born in 88 he's 26 will be 27 next year, so he's only going to be 28 if he returns the year after.

  • Miatch the Roosters weren't coming off a 28 year drought.
How much longer do you make excuses?
