Salary cap rorting

Just listening to 2GB & reference was made to a Paul Kent article suggesting an NRL team will be implicated in salary cap issues from a future unrelated ICAC hearing & Ray Hadley said that it was Parra. The Storm win a GF; the dogs were heading the comp when caught, where as we're coming off 2 wooden spoons. Said that the issues involved last board & Moses Obeid was mentioned.

  • It's the dogs mate, 2GB jumped the gun in order to stir the pot, Obeid/ICAC and the bulldogs go way back:

  • the article stated that the club involved recruitment manager just left- my first thought was Parra as Nolan just left
Seriously if it turns out our old board has links to Obeid and they were breaking cap whilst destroying the joint with one of the worst coaching and playing squads ever assembled that will just about be the absolute final nail in their coffins.

Serious ? - Obeid is a souths supporter,Mark Hughes was
their recruitment person wasn't he and he resigned recently. this is also plausible
  • I didn't hear the accusation from Hadley but if he has openly stated that it's Parramatta and it turns out to be someone else then parra should be calling the solicitors in. You just cannot defame an organisation without solid proof.
    • Hadley definitely said it was Parra & that Moses Obeid was an eels supporter.
    • Agreed fathead hadley had better be sure of what he's saying or his current problems will be minor compared to what he may cop for this slur.

  • Eddie Obeid's passion for rugby league and in particular Souths, where he was once a director, shines through with games listed in the diaries along with meetings with Souths owner Peter Holmes a Court, former Souths boss George Piggins, and first grade coaches Des Hasler and Ricky Stuart.

  • Unfortunately the article from spec is from 2002.
  • Isn't that story from 2002 about bulldogs?
    • Yes, proving previous association Obeid/Dogs - i.e they were in bed in the past, no surprise they would be in bed now.

  • We have no choice but to release Hayne to the Roosters or Bulldogs. Neither team has a salary cap, you can't breach what you don't have.

"He played two weeks I think at left centre last year at the start. We abandoned that quickly but maybe we can consider it next year with Russell gone. Maybe a year or two next to the fox would sort him out."
