Salary Cap Challenge

Of the players we have signed and using rough, guestimates see if you can fit next year's Top 25 players into the $4.4 million salary cap or whatever it is. I really struggled to do it and I think it's indicative of our more likely scenario in terms of signings. I reckon we have five players now who are likely getting $300K+. I don't know if any other club would have that many top tier players. It makes the salary cap position, quite challenging. I'll post my figures once a few of you have had a crack, as I'm interested to see what other people come up with.

  • not sure wat the adds upto
    • About $5.5 million - you've just got to get a million or so out of your total salary and your set
  • I worked it out 4.1 million

  • what about burt and hindy concessions ?    3rd party deals with hayne and hindy  ?
  • wow pretty difficult, there is 3rd party and long term concessions not sure how they work. Do you think we will be signing any other 'name' players or just depth from here mr 1eyed
  • we are not getting value out of Hayne $500,000.00 to a degree, Justin Poore dudd signing  $350,000.00, as Daniel Mortimer $225,000.00 a bad signing. Now Sandow on $400,000.00, hope he lives up to expectation & Willie Tonga on $300,000.00. Stephen Kearney & Board will be judged this time next Year. All this big money on these players must represent a top 4 position at bear minimum in 2012, anything less is a absolute failure & the coach & board must be held accountable.
  • Dont forget the discount on players at one club for 10 years. I think off memory they are only worth half in the cap for what they are actually one. So Hindy and Burt would be cheap in regards to there cap worth.
    • As I understand it 4.4m, includes long-serving player concession
  • 1. Burt $170 (he took a pay cut last contract to stay with the eels)

    2. Tonga $120

    3. Tonga $280

    4. Loko $55

    5. Sio $55

    6. Hayne $380 (if we are smart a lot of his 500+ are 3rd party deals)

    7. Sandow $330

    8. Fui $240

    9. Keating $160

    10, Mannah $280

    11. Hindy $350

    12. Smith $180

    13. Maitua $55

    14. Roberts $180

    15. Shacks $200

    16. Poore $250

    17. Horo $120

    18. Morts $220

    19. Lasalo $100

    20. Atkins $90

    21. Allgood $90

    22. Morgan $55

    23. O'hanlon $55

    24. Tautai $90

    25. Paulo $90

    Total $4,195,000

Those figures are all guesswork probably really far out from what they actually are.
