Sadly, I've just lost interest.

After the last 2 weeks from hell its amazing how much interest I have lost in the NRL in general. Is anyone else finding this?

I don't think I've ever been as pumped as I was this year coming into a season and as soon as the salary cap scandal hit its really shocked me. I have been a season ticket holder and member for about 7 years and I really found my NRL consumption over the weekend was basically nil. I have just lost interest, and I never thought I would.

Regardless of your opinion as to who is to blame for our downfall and punishment (board, Greenberg, player managers, former CEO's) I can't explain the loss of interest I have had. Peats spirit, character and work ethic now being lost is another blow. And the worst part about it all is the end appears to be nowhere in sight?

Every single day there are horror articles about Parra. I think this will set the club back many more years and it makes me sad. I hope I am wrong. I hate th fact our club is associated with being cheats and I hate the fact instead of talking about who will play this week every article (or blog) is about a new scandal.

Just a bit over it all re NRL and Parra now. Not sure if anyone else feels the same.

  • Throw in the bunker too. That try the roosters lost last night was disgraceful.
  • I too am struggling. Due to the recent release of board meeting dialog I have now been 100% convinced we are cheats.

But more worrying for me is the inference within that dialog that suggests we are only following nrl success protocol.

To me it ruins the grand final achievements for the last 5 years, it ruins roosters and bulldogs long standing success for the past 10 years and it ruins rugby league in this country unless we just all pretend the minutes dont refer to other clubs and just pretend only parra did it.... seems even the media dont wanna ruin league as well so they are ignoring the references to other clubs. Crazy crazy times.

I often defend league to non-footy fans who say it is just boofheads running into each other and now I am struggling to even bother.
  • 100% agree!
I would usually watch 4-5 games per weekend and if I don't watch a game I'm all over the live scores.
This weekend I only watched the eels game and had no interest in any others whatsoever.
  • Glad it's not only me. I can't bring myself to watch the Eels (yet) and for the rest of the weekend I watched about 5 minutes combined. The missus thinks I am dying. I even invited the in laws over for dinner on Saturday and whilst the Old Man watched the game I chatted with the Old Girl in the kitchen.

For mine, it's like the ultimate kick in the guts. Since 86 we have only really been a force a couple of times. You get used to hoping only to be disappointed. This year felt awesome. But now it's like there is no reason to invest in the NRL at all. I know some will say you support your team through anything and that is true. I still love the eels but I have NO desire to see them bravely bang their heads against a brick wall each week with no chance of really winning.

My REAL concern is that this is not the end of it. Whether there are more details to follow or even worse, we are set back another 5 years in development, you can leave me out of it.

Will have to double the attention on the gee gees now.

    • This! I am exactly the same. Everything you have said here is bang on I am so deflated after the excitement from the start of this here and really worried we have more years of poor football and drama ahead. I think I have finally been lost to the NRL. My interest has always been there through the crap but I think I am done.

  • Yeah I am the same. Only Rugby League content I now watch is the Parra game. None of the NRL shows, other games, rep games I can be bothered watching. I may not even watch Origin.

  • I agree. I watch 2 games on the weekend where normally I watch them all. I come down too Parramatta 3 times a year to watch them, I was at the cowboys games but now I just cancelled my hotels for the next 2 games. Just can't do it anymore
  • I think there are a bunch of us that are so tired of all the garbage, just when we think it's almost over another blast of negative news hits the press. I do believe we will have to endure this for longer than we thought, seems the NRL and the press have an endless supply of dirt on our club. Maybe one day we will wake up and the nightmare will be over and we can get back to talking about football and not halfwit administrators.

  • Mate you aren't the only one. It's hard to get behind us when we are convicted cheats. There was only 16,000 there on Friday night in what was meant to be a sold out blockbuster. That number is going to continue to drop as our season fizzles out in the next few weeks.

  • I to have lost interest in watching the eels, I hate the peanuts who did this to us fans. The one year we were killing it and showed real signs of preimership contion is now all gone

"Only thing going for us to keep him is that it's his final year, and if he wants another big contract he needs to perform. Unfortunately we are fcuked. Cheers to the signing committee."
