  • Andrew Johns will ALWAYS be a Knight, and that's how it should be. But I think he's just being loyal and appeasing his friends, family and fan base with the comment. He likes to win more than anything, and deep down he'll be wanting the team he's coaching to win.

    • Yeah I agree with the first bit not so sure about him wanting the eels to win. I just think he should be more diplomatic about it. I don't really think he has improved our halves anyway.

  • He tipped the Eels the other day on TV with Brad Fittler also tipping the Eels. Jamie Soward and Steve Renough have both tipped the Knights. The Eels will win this by 10+ unless the Knights gets refs helping hand.

  • Yeah not a good look when one of your own coaches tips against you. Imagine how the Parra players he coaches feel? Fuck that.

There are better ways of dealing with the question if his loyalty to Newcastle is too strong. Just remain neutral and refuse to tip openly.

    • Agree EAM that's how he should've handled it. Doesn't fill me with confidence that he wouldn't be consulting with Newc's about how best to approach our weaknesses, but this is why we need someone like Sterlo or Kenny to mentor in our inner sanctum

blood always thicker than water and all that, so not surprised at all he wants Newc's to win, he just should've shut his trap publicly as you say

  • He's just being honest. Having worked with our halves he obviously knows Moses is yet to win a single Origin or finals game in almost a decade.  Good chance he'll shit his dacks again today.

Hooefully it is the last we will see of AJs at the club considering his halves coaching hasn't been that great at any of the clubs he's been at. Matthews certainly the better John's brother when it comes to the post career talent.

  • Can't stand him or his brother. The eight immortal my arse.

  • Who cares. He is being honest, he thinks the Knights will win, so what. He is hired to coach our halves, that is a paid coaching appointment, it doesn't mean he has to  think we are the best and won't lose.

It is like a parent who can't see fault in their shit child, they still love their kid, but should be able to admit the kid is a c##t.

    • Hmmm not sure about that. All this week the Eels would be training and working on strategies to beat the Knights. Hours and hours of training. How can you have a coach lead you into a battle when he doesn't believe you can win? I call bullshit. I wouldn't I pay or trust him with our team if he tips against us.

      • Relax mate.

        He always tips Newcastle.

He isn't even in the bubble with us so he is not currently working with us.

"If we are not phased we must have options, but those options are not clear. Unless Ryles sees more importance using the money for depth and forwards instead of a Winger?
I would rather just keep him as he makes the team better."
