Rhyse Martin Eels rumoured

Rhyse Martin to the Eels?

That’s the latest rumour coming out of Sydney tonight, with Talking Sport suggesting that Martin could be off to BankWest Stadium.

It would be a huge coup for the Eels, with what could already be one of the better back rows in the competition.

Manu Ma’u, Shaun Lane and Nathan Brown are the starters once Brown returns in the next few rounds, with the likes of Niukore and Moeroa battling for positions. If Brad Arthur can add the goal-kicking edge player to his roster, Parramatta might be able to make a run at a top 4 spot in 2020.

It would almost certainly be the nail in the coffin for Dean Pay as well, with the rumour that Raymond Faitala-Mariner and Corey Haraweira-Naera might be looking elsewhere for 2020 and beyond.

Eels fans, a good pick up?

  • Umm, we need middle forwards, he is a handy player but front row should be a priority.

  • This rumour has been around for a while. No idea if it will happen. Suppose he's seen as the long term replacement for Ma'u on the edge. I rate him. Think he's better suited to lock though.

  • Great pick up, could easily replace a edge forward.

guys we need players - the sooner we realise this the better.

We need a massive overhaul whoever the coach is, this roster has a few good players the rest really can’t be trusted for Wentworthville. It’s sad to say but I can’t see a way out of this with this squad.....

  • We have 47 open positions for 2020 and are so far close to signing exactly no one. What the hell is going on at Parra???

We need Props about 6 good ones who love to make yards and belt players, 2 fast specialist Centres with elite speed.

    Anything?

    • Mutts, I agree with the need for props, I continue to look at who is available and for me, we need to look for one outside the club, and with those inside and developing I think we have those positions covered, JNR needs to take a more prominent position and leader of the pack. I still 5 forwards who are off contract that I would not think will be resigned for next season, of all the games I have seen Martin play in he has done well, there's no doubt he is is vg player and can cover several spots in any forward pack, hooker, 2nd row and lock, he;s in a similar mould to Paul Gallen in weight and height, Gallen has covered prop at times and Martin could fill that spot as well.

Given we signed McIwyck to be back for Mahoney, if Marting was available I believe he would be very much an ideal bench player for the eels, strong, and can play any position in the pack and a vg goal kicker too boot, Certainly at the right price he would be a far better player as back up 9 to McIwyck. and keep pressure on the other forwards in the team.

Have a read of the following stats on him. https://www.zerotackle.com/rugby-league/players/rhyse-martin/

      • Has played centre from time to time and held his own but I think forward is his go. Form not as good as last year but last game was ok.

    • I concur capitain

    • 47 open positions ?

Have they changed the roster rules recently ?

      • Hyperbole perhaps?

  • Fkn great goal kicker that would be his only asset to the team.. But do u really think Moses would give that job up, he loves the attention and the close up camera shot too much!
