We're (Europeans) feeling quite edgy and concerned about the military build up by Russian troops on the Ukraine border. Ukraine already was forced to cede territory to the Russian less than 10 years ago but it's getting out of hand now with NATO getting involved to try help the Ukrainians through negotiation because as it seems, they will offer fuck all through muscle.

There always seems to be an ulterior motive in these situations. What are the Russians truly after is the big question and I'm no geopolitical expert when it comes to Northern European Politics. It kinds of reminds me of Hitler's aggression to Germany's neighbours where everyone was giving Germany all they wanted (Appeasment- Chamberlain holding up a piece of paper that Hitler signed but ended up shitting on anyway) to preserve the... peace but they ended up getting what they asked for but invaded anyway.

I'd be glad to read your view points on this very serious situation.

  • Ukraine is a must for Russia. Its flat between Kiev and Moscow. No natural obstacles to slow down tanks.

Purely a strategic necessity like Crimea.

Rusiia will not be stopped by a few sanctions

    • Well the Ukrainians will be punching themselves in the nuts for destroying their nuclear war heads by joining the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons

Like how stupid is that... You have weapons you can use for leverage if someone starts acting cute and cocky and you give it all up for no good reason.

The Ukraine is going to have to whore it self out big time to the US if it's to save it self being fucked by a nastier piece of work.

Hopefully Ukraine has prepared it self this time after being screwed in Crimea. The writing has been on the wall for a while. Crimea was a differant story to this. There you had armed ethnic Russians seeking independance. Now at least the rest of the country is ethnically pure Ukrainians so it won't be that easy for Russia. They might be on the look out for some pussy but might well getting fucked by a big ol' dick. Offensive wars are much more difficult to win. One guy is fighting for his house, family and friends, the other is a mere invader being told to go get killed for something that's not his and he'll never own.

      • They were Russian owned missiles that Russia withdrew

    • Who believes NATO would roll tanks into Russia? It would be a disaster. It's about a sociopathic kleptocrat flexing and trying to prove his relevance

      • Ukrain has a fairly good army and the tanks they have are in the main modern ones that can handle a lot of oposition, Russia does have more as well as ground attack rockets but many of their tanks, are more akin to mobile flack attacks.

While the very low copula where the commander sits and controls where it is going, a good hit by a heavy tank that the Ukrains have, at the turret base would take the top off very quickly & easy,  in WW2 even the heavy Tiger tanks of the German army had the weak point of if it was hit with a reasonable shell under the turrett.  The most cunning and best German Panzer ace Michael Whitman was killed when he was advancing with 2 other tigers towards Caen, and a pommie tank came off the road and hedges, to the side of Whitmans Tiger and at a distance the poms fired one shot and it lifted the Turret off, with Whitman underneath it.  Under a normal engagement with Whitman that would not have happened, his two accompany Panzers turned on the poms and took a couple of them out but retreated when they found that the poms had more tanks & were outnumered as a result.

The Russians do have some heavy tanks, but like in many battles it depends on how much armanents they have also owing to lower profiles they may not have the amount of shells if they advance too far. Another area where a defending tank brigade can hold back as the Russsians are likely to be advancing and firing at the same time, which provides for an opportunity for the Ukrain side to fire on the opposition as they have to reload and get the spent shell out of the tank.

PS, one thing that may well help the Ukraine tanks and infantry, and watching the news there is a lot of snow that is melting, and softening the ground which bogs heavy tanks,  It was a big issue again with the German attacks in Russia, in the winter thaws. Will be the same in the Ukraine, & I suspect the Ukraine's would be pretty much prepared for eventualities.

        • Summer  is war weather in northern Europe. WW2proved that. The Germans didn't understand that

          • As for the German understandings, they had excellent military leaders aside from Hitler who had some planning nouce in certain areas only. The opening of Barbarosa on 22nd June 1941 was a disaster to come as it was in the heat of summer, the Wehrmacht was also fighting on other fronts, and the Luftwaffe still recovering from large losses in the air battle of Britain, also the older veterans in the army had been retired to homeland defence, most of whom had been part of the army in WW1.  Even in August (late) there is cold winds and the beginning of the snow falls.  Russia also had to have the border with China (Mongolia) protected owing to the Japanese Army occupying those Northern borders, and ready to go into Russia at the border of Manzhouli.  Russia relied on the Mongolians to fight with the Russian army against invaders.

Read the reports and history that are available from various German head officers in their resistance to the invasion at that time, especially as they were already fighting on other fronts. The beginning of May was deemed to have been the primary start of Operation Barbarosa as the lower areas of Russia had already experienced the winter thaws, as it was still Spring.

The primary aspect that was why Babarosa was to be held was to get to Moscow, pre the next winter, but the winter hit first and was early, no different to Napoleans failure. At the point of winning Hitler changed the plans and diverted Army central and South to attack to the east in order to secure the oil fields in Romania at Ploestie, with the U.S involved following their involvement they used their air force to constantly attack and put the oil fields out to deprive the Germans in both militarily, domestic and industrial.

Germany is a country that in their Northern areas, along with their mountain ranges do have heavy snow not just in the winter months either.  As for the military aspect with this discussion, the constant changing of directions from Hitler and his Generals being forced into changing tactics and directions, which in so many cases meant not just the foot soldiers but also their overall supply chain and the Panzer brigades were also constantly changing directions following orders from Berlin.

        • ! ex :In Crimea  I was usuing a $15000 military grade laptop. 5 min after turning it on the russians hacked it. We smashed it to bits and collected the peices.

2ex: The US Donald Cook , a US destroyer was overflown by a Russian Fighter/bomber. The fighter /bombers electronic warfare capabilities left the Donald Cook defencless. The f/b did 12 passes over the Donald Cook with many crew members beleiving that their time was up. At the end of that cruise there were mutiple requests to leave the navy from that ship. Look on the internet for yourself.

ex3: These are just 2 examples of why the US are so desperate to implement a better electronic war fighting capability. The US does not have ownership of the electronic warfighting spectrum. Russia does.

ex4: Look at the examples of the computer and the Donald Cook. Who owns the electronic war fighting spectrum wins the war. The US does not.

          • Mate, if you're talking about the 2016 incident where 2 SU24's buzzed her that's not even close to what happened - it's a popular urban myth but it's wholy inaccurate. Donald Cook's systems are at the peak of the AB classes abilities - she could have dispatched them both before they even knew what was going on.

You under estimate the US' electronic warfare capabilities - which is exactly as it should be.

            • Fuck with a flight3 Burke at your peril.

When done snuffing BinLaden the overloaded SF helo (1 had been lost already) was missle locked by a paki f16. Pilot engaged his EW suite and the missile never left the rail.

That effect is from a pod slung on the side of a helo.

Fuck with a BURKE at your peril
