Rugby League player dies after tragic on-field incident
A rugby league player has died in hospital after after collapsing during a finals match in northern NSW.
Grant Cook, a 28-year-old father of two, went into cardiac arrest during a game between the Murwillumbah Mustangs and Casino on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to the ground after the man collapsed and was left unconscious after a tackle.
He was then transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in critical condition, where he died as a result of his injuries overnight.
Country Rugby League has offered counselling for friends and family, as well as all the players involved.
