Good side
Unfortunately, our reserve grade side has not played a game yet. We had a bye round 1 and a wash out in round 2. So it make sense that Penesini wasn't given his debut. Hopefully he is able to play a couple games soon and if he peforms well in those games, he should get a crack at the centre spot until Blake returns from injury.
I must admit that our bench looks very weak this round. I expect our starting 11 to play big minutes (60) and Hipgrave and Stone to play 20min cameos. Good chance for Kafusi to play good minutes as well. Wouldn't suprise me if Smith moves to the centre (apparently trained there in pre-season) and Niukore in the middle if we our struggling for go foward when Paulo, RCG and Brown are off the field.
It will be interesting to see how Niukore goes. On a dry track, he may easily get beaten for pace. I don't know who he is marking up against, but if its Tracey it could be challenging. Tracey is not a centre, but has very good acceleration which would trouble Niukore. Dugan on the other hand is past his prime and not as quick. But would potentially still trouble Niukore on a dry field.
I think he'll be marking Dugan.
Yeah I think BA will need to stagger the middle forward rotation. We can't really afford to have Junior, RCG and Brown all off at the same time for 30-40min. I'm wondering if Hipgrave will actually start on the edge, or come on to push Papa into the middle?
Hipgrave should definitely not start. But in the pre-season, Stone was training on the edge. So I expect Papa to move in the middle when Stone comes on the field. Stone did play in the middle last year, but doesn't give much go foward. Hipgrave will only be used in the middle. He is not quick or a good enough defender to be relied upon on the edge. Not the most reliable 1 on 1 defender, espicially to quicker players.
Hipgrave doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence yet, but has had limited game time. We probably have too many generalists on the bench so that could become problematic. Just hope Paulo and RCG can sustain big minutes this week.
Good target in the centres for Parra. Why is Tracey in the centres?
Other Sharks player got dropped for a shit showing last week. Ramien still out
whats the Weather looking like this w'end?
Niukore @centre again, our bench be lookin better with him on it ! Was hoping Dunster for centre, all good tho Maratha should stick it to them.
☀️☀️ prime for a Sivo air raid
Dry track could show any of Nuikore's lateral movement and speed deficiencies.
But that's the Bush Coach for you - doesn't realise he has better options.
