Round 1 Centre options

With Waqa Blake breaking his arm, he is racing the clock for Round 1. Simonsson also is in doubt and Dunster is not going to be rushed and will be eased back in via NSW cup.

So Gutherson, Sivo and Penisini are 1, 2 & 3 respectfully. Russell looks to be the lock for 5 shirt atm, but who do we put at Centre?

Options at this stage If those 3 are out are:

Zac Cini

Sam Loizou

Isaac Lumelume (wing and Russell to Centre)

Or maybe an outside option, some players off-contract we could lure over to a deal past 2023:

Adam Pompey (Warriors)

Brian Kelly (Gold Coast)

Jesse Arthars (Brisbane)

Hymel Hunt (Newcastle)

Patrick Herbert (Gold Coast)

Enari Tuala (Newcastle)

Out of them Pompey and Tuala are the two best in terms of defence and attack.

But we will find a way, even Daejarn Asi could fill in at Centre worst case sceanrio.

  • If they bring in an outside centre over Cini its blatant ginger predjudice.

  • Daejarn Asi is probably above Cini in the pecking order.

    • Thats prob the option but I was refering to centres from outside the club being bought in.

Asi appears to have a lot of talent. its confirmed we have him for 2 years so  Im interested to see how he goes.

      • Cini has looked good in reserves- doubt he would let us down if called up

  • Backs depth chart according to Eels website

    FB: Clint Gutherson, Sean Russell

Wing: , Maika Sivo, Bailey Simonsson, Haze Dunster, Samuel Loizou,

Centre: Waqa Blake, Will Penesini, Daejern Asi

    Halfback: Mitchell Moses, Jacob Arthur

    Five-Eighth: Dylan Brown

    • Asi has played most his FG games at 5/8 so can add him as depth there.

  • I wouldn't mind tuala or Pompey think Pompey would go well in a good team

  • I think Opiacic is a bigger liss then people realise

I'd like to sign Brian Kelly that guy always scores against us

    • I like Kelly too, he became a better player when he moved clubs, could be even better in a good side like ours.

  • Where the hell are our juniors? Panthers produce them every year & what are we doing? Who taking them? Very thin!

"600k is OK for the right winger. The Panthers sets are built on what their back 3 do on tackle one. The more momentum at the start of a set the more expansive a team can play but if our back three are getting smashed on tackle one and two it puts…"
