Parramatta use the old fashioned style of we bash you, run through you and then our backs ignite and score the points, sounds like the 80's and it works! As proven by many teams with this style, over the years teams have developed higher and higher standards of play and it shows with the game we watch today.
I don't believe we have the team to play that style of footy week in week out and especially in finals where the game and teams start going next level.
Why do Storm dominate in the finals?, they start the games with 3 big Props, Welch, Bromwich and Big Nelson and the bench is STACKED with Kamikamika, Finucane, Grant and another back rower or prop.
if you look at their backs, sometimes you don't even know the player or its a player that wasn't doing much with another club so why do they do so well.
Welch, Bromwich and Big Nelson are all rep players along with Kamikamika (Eels Junior), Finucane and Grant and then the spine all 5 are REP players.
Our bench is decent and the likes of Kafusi and Marata are imperative to our team but they would be better in the back row and piss off lane or keep him for cheap.
Bryce Cartwright? or Joey Lussick (or this mold) would be a good utility players if they trained him up to be, think Grant coming on for the cheese.
RCG and Paulo cannot keep that bashing going for big minutes week in week out and its showing and it shows every year after 26 rounds of bashing.
Look at this
8: RCG
9: Mahoney
17: A New Prop
11: Matto
12: Kafusi
13: Paulo
Bench: Joey Lussick, Marata, New Prop, Lane
That's a starting pack that will dominate and a bench that will definitely keep the job going but not only that it would allow good rotation keeping them fresh.
Salary cap I here you say? Fuck it, cheat! No no just jokes.
We have paid overs for RCG Paulo and quite a few others so if we start winning and dominating players will stay for $50-$100-$150 thousand less or go to a team who will pay it...... and the storm have had players that won't stay for less, think Jorden Mclean who moved from the storm to cowboys he's missed GF wins and the Melbourne system for an increase with a long time left to play.
One or two Props, let the likes of Waqa Fergo (1 million dollars) go and promote from within.
And with this team we wouldn't even need to sack the coach (maybe) as it's what he preaches.
ps still piss off kidwell sorry about the marathon blog

How about a coach and gameplan to suit the roster ?????!!!
Ummm yeh that's what I thought 🤔
Funny how BA had 8 years to buy players to suit his gameplan. So say hypothetically BA did have the correct gameplan, it is his fault for not recruiting the right players.
Yep... much easier than changing a team. Our gameplan is completely rigid - same all the time, doesn't matter who we play, doesn't matter who is in or out, doesn't matter what's actually going even on during the game. We could have the lightest, fastest, most mobile ball playing offloading pack in the comp... and still we would just bash up the middle 'chasing the collision' and front loading washing bloody effort. There's a time for doing that... but it's not all the damn time.
There could be a brick wall acoss the middle of the field that is only 10m wide - BA would having us trying to bash through the middle rather than run around it. Even when he sees the other team running around it, we'd keep bashing into it.
It's really strange how BA has changed the way we play. We used to play a lot of 2nd phase footy and he recruited to suit that gameplay.
If you think of all the players (forwards) that have been recruited by BA in the current squad and the past, they have all been known to be offloading forwards.
But this year in particular he has told the team to put the offload away, bash the middle, chase the collision and worry about completing to the highest percentage. When there is a game when we play a lot of 2nd phase, we look lost because they are no longer used to that style of footy.
