Amazing team. Fantastic resilience. Can you image if we lost two of our best players to retirement then lost three others , one a main playmaker to ACLs ? Plus a whole bag of other injuries and they will probably still give us a belting next week.
Fabulous coach Robbo, with great assistants and great structures. And ... you are right ...excellent 'financial assistance'.
Although my heart will always love the Eels, and be loyal to them, but the two teams I respect the most are the Storm & the Roosters.
There's nous, mental toughness, discipline & inspired leadership in their cultural DNA - behind their success.
People always talk about the Roosters' sombrero & that these two teams cheat, but the bottom line is "You can't run with money in your pockets". And no wonder players want to play there. It's not just about the money.
A full strength Storm will be almost unbeatable come finals time. They'll have their off days (like when they played us in R2), but Jesus they're tough.
Our culture of the soft underbelly is just annoying. And I expect it more than not.
You are 100% right. Look at the Roosters for example. They signed Flanagan, the son of a coach and a junior star. They tried him for a season and made the decision that he wasn't up for it. Professional. Hard assed. Business like decison. There is absolutely no way that the Eels would have treated Kyle Flanagan the same way. We would have procrastinated and fumbled and just accepted him for years and wasted that time.
Sadly, BA would not have been afforded the luxuries he has obtained if he was anywhere near these organisations.
Both organisations are light years from us and hopefully we look to them as an aiming point.
"Issue is since they have done this they cannot go back. Dan Ginnane said that last year once you go to 27 rounds you cannot go back. If you do it is to 26 rounds.
Shorter season is exactly what Bennett is saying is the issue, i have said it for…"

"People will still complain because they will have more away games against better teams compared to other teams or different turn around times.
I think a shorter season and stand alone rep period is the best option and over due though."

They will be a premiership threat again next year of everyone stays fit.
