Rookie class of 2014

Congrats to Luke Brooks for winning the rookie of the year. Being a halfback he has the ability to make a huge difference to the teams he plays in over the next 10 years.Rugby League doesn't really celebrate it's rookie class the way other sports does, however this year should be remembered as one of the best. There is one man who I think will stand at the top of the pack in 10-15 years who didn't get any recognition last night because of his late debut.I have no doubt Tepai will be the premier player of this years rookie class. The most exciting forward we've produced since Hindy.... And he's going to player in a monster pack for the next few years. Can't wait!

  • I think Brooks had a very over rated season. He started the season well but the back half was poor. He averaged over 5 missed tackles per game. He only had 7 line break assists all season (from 21 games) and 12 try assists. He did not provide 1 try assist since round 17.

  • That shit cost us a game, he can break a tackle but if you brush him he goes flying!!!
  • There's certainly been some talented players that have come out of the NYC and NSW cup competitions this year. We're all talking about Tepai Moeroa as the next big thing and I have no doubts that he will be but we can't forget Manu Ma'u who in his first game in League made 200 metres. He mightn't be the biggest second-rower running around but he makes it up in speed and controlled aggression.

Then we also have Kenny Edwards who was basically a rookie this year as well as Pauli Pauli. Parramatta's edges are going to be fine for some years. I think when 2015 rolls around we should be going hard for Dylan Napa or Jared Warea-Hargreaves.

    • Napa might be the better investment. Cheaper and less likely to be suspended or give away cheap penalties by doing something stupid.
  • Napa's a bit of a loose cannon too, looks to be susceptible to being baited and then doing dumb things... But a good prospect if he can get his head right all the time..

    • Removing him from JWH may settle him down a bit. I think he's trying to copy JWH a little too much and at a new club he may settle down a little more.

    • Napa was a grub in 20's & NSW Cup too.
  • Luke Brooks reminds me of Morts, he will go backwards in future years
Too small and just cannot tackle effectively
I think many similarities, both in ability and Media hype in 1st season to Daniel

"That pass is actually an example of good dummy half play. That close to the line you're not going to beat the defenders with a pass straight off the ground. His step back and dummy holds up the A and B defenders which sees the outside men come up…"
