Robson vs KK ( I know, I know, but hear me out. lol)

I know i am one of the people always campaigning, to keep topics in one thread, however i'd like to bring a different perspective on the Robson vs KK debate. My excuse is the other thread looks like it's just about dead, and besides it looks like a slow news day, so i thought it wouldn't hurt! hahaSee the problem is we are all looking at the Robson KK debate through arm-chair eyes. Don't get me wrong, alot of people have made some very solid cases for both KK and Robson on Dan_Ref's previous thread. However, we as fans have the luxury of saying whatever we want in regards to changes to the team as their are no repurcutions to our opinions. We have to understand that it an entirely different story through the eyes of a first grade coach.Let me give you an example, let's say that before the end of the week DA decides to drop Robson and puts KK into halfback, this is obviously a sign that he want's to score points aswell as head into the future. However what happens if we lose this game, regardless of whether or not we get hammered or if we lose unluckily, imagine the heat that Ando would cop from the Fans and the media. The media would have an absolute field day, they would say "the decision that ended the dream run" etc. They would question why a first grade coach would drop his much more senior Halfback who has been leading arguably the form team of the competition for a 20 year old kid who hasnt played for 12 weeks. They would get interviews from the fans etc aswell as the usual caper of ex-players who always want to say their opinion. It's a very very tough decision for Ando to make.Another major point that i don't think anyone has made yet, is the amount of pressure KK would be under to perform in this game, i mean can it get much harder? he's had to watch on has his team has performed so admirably over the last month, going from a team scrapping for the spoon to a team that looks like it may threaten the heavyweights. Imagine having to step back in and lead this team around, with the added pressure of continuing the great form. I know its something that would scare me, i played KK as a junior and he was always confident, obviously KK would probably enjoy the challenge, however regardless, their would still be a huge weight on his shoulder's and if we were to lose then perhaps it would shatter his confidence. I would say Ando has already thought about this, and perhaps he is trying to protect him.So my opinion on the situation for this week you ask? Well i would like to see Robson at 7, and Keating on the bench. 1Eyed already made a thread on interchange halfback's, but i take a different view, I wouldn't necessarily put him out just to replace Robson and change things up, more on the fact of just assuring KK could get a run out their in number 7 (preferably if we were already in control of the game) and see what he can do. This would give Ando an idea of whether KK could handle the responsibility for the rest of the year. Also if KK performed well against the warriors and was given the 7 next week, than the media would have less ammo to use if we were to lose against the tigers/panthers.P.S i would also leave Kinga on the bench to continue the hooker rotation with MK. I believe we have more than enough utility value from within the squad to cover for the loss of a forward on the bench.

  • only 2 forwards on the bench i dunno about that
  • KK is so overrated in this forum its not funny. I'd go as far to say that i'd be happy if both keating brothers weren't in the first grade side. I'd swap them both for robson and kingston in a heartbeat!
    • He's under-rated if you ask me.

And you wouldn't be happy for long.
    • KK is gun man!, MK on the other hand is o.k but i like kinga way better.
  • blueNgold I agree this week is the the week for Ando to experiment. But I don't think he really cares about the media to tell the truth, he's made a lot of unpopular decisions.

As I've said, from my perspective and a pure performance basis - you have to put KK in their immediately. But from a team morale/attitude point of view, I can understand why you'd stick with the players who are performing.

I am dying to see how the team goes with both KK and Mateo in there - I just think we're going to be unstoppable.
