CLINTON Gutherson was one of the Sea Eagles’ most promising prospects but his time at the northern beaches club was cruelled with serious injury.

At the Eels, the 22-year-old is a picture of health.

His transformation from broken and battered teenager into the leader of the pack on the training paddock is impressive.

Parramatta captain Tim Mannah says Gutherson has been training the house down and is head and shoulders above the rest in the fitness stakes.

“I think physically there’s the playing group and then there’s Clint, he’s in his own playing field,” Mannah said.

“Fitness wise he’s a freak and he’s definitely been a standout.

“He is genetically gifted but he works really hard and he has worked really hard on his diet this year as well. And he’s put on a bit of size as well.”

Coach Brad Arthur was forced to turn to the dynamic backline star to help fill the huge gap in the halves left by Corey Norman and Kieran Foran at the back end of last season.

And despite being coined as a fullback and winger, Gutherson was a revelation in the number six jumper and now looks set to carve out a career at the Eels as a playmaker.

“He’s been training there [at five-eighth] and he’s been doing a really good job,” Mannah said.

“He had a really good season last year and Brad [Arthur] has put a lot of trust into him and the boys have a lot of trust in him.

  • Go the spaniel !!!! I reckon he has a photo of a cocker or springer on his fridge as a motivator never to be shook over the sideline again. Top work . He is a revelation .
  • Guth is without doubt one the best if not THE best young leaders we've had at this club ever!

  • What a great inteview

    • LOL You think Tim would dress better. Stubbies and thongs?

  • & the other Clint was a pretty fair goal kicker as well.

    • He sure was !
  • Captain Gutho is the future.

  • I couldnt get through more than 2 minutes of that interview god bless him, he must be the most boring man on Earth, watching 10 minutes of a bloke with the exact same expression and dopey smile for every single question is just too much for me.

    • Mannah is just a good man. He leads by example instead of anger or bullshit. No wonder Snake hates him.
