St. Louis - a classic
Your timeless music will live on forever
RIP To Stevie
But lets be honest here the easybeats wrote some very lame songs like friday on my mind and gonna have fun in the city, honestly could you get anything cheesier even in those days, i cant believe people listened to this stuff?
Wasnt there a few decent rock bands back then to listen to or were the Easy beats where it was at?
RIP Stevie
Lame? Blaspemy! They had heaps of typical cheesy 3 chord 60s pop songs, but Friday was not one of them."Women","Sorry","Good time","Wedding Ring" are brilliant.Rip Stevie,I hope you finally find peace.
Agree Sixties. Would rate The 'beats as the best and probably most progressive/modern (early) rock (not rock 'n roll) band of their time.
The songs had a rough edge to them and were immensely popular with the generation of the time. They stack up very well against their contemporaries. It must be remembered that subject matter and lyrics were very heavily censored at that time by the industry in general - in that sense, by comparison, they were very progressive.
Their music (not lyrics) had a "dirty' edge to it which was a sign of things to come. Had they been British or American, and had Stevie not succumbed to heroin, they would have been absolutely massive.
R.I.P. Stevie - a huge part of Australian rock music history.
I could never understand the need to "keep the high" of a performance.
I was more than happy to get 1/2 stung after a good show - allow some groupie to have her way with me - THEN SLEEP !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great band in its day - great songwriter - and in fact Stevie was one hell of a nice bloke - until...................
Rock on brother - rock on.
