Right side in 2016?

We look pretty much settled on all positions nexy year except the right hand centre/wing combo. This has been our problem area this year and was wondering who you all think should take up these positions next year realistically? We have some options but im not sure how good any are. In the centres, Hoppa could stay. Morgan is there. Goodall may step up. Are there any other lower graders coming up that can fill this void? Can you see any possible signing here? Can Buretta turn into a centre?Im not sure if Robinson is signed but I think he will make a great speedy winger or if you need more power than Buretta. I wouldnt look past these two. Unless French can be given a taste of first grade on the wing? Is there any other wingers that should be looked at.At this stage I would go with a Hoppa, Robinson pairing but Im not too impressed with Hoppa at the moment.

  • Hoppa butetta for me. Don't mind the idea of beven starting there.
  • Hoppa with Robinson if both are re-signed, if not then Toutai with Faraimo. If Davis does well on the wing for the rest of this year and improves in pre-season training then he could be with a chance at either right centre or wing.

    • Good post, this is the only part of our team that needs to be sorted out for next year. Id go with Robbo and Buretta on that side try one of the two at centre.Have been impressed by Buretta and Robbos pace speaks for itself. Add Bevan French to the mix to be able to ease himself into first grade.

I would be letting Hoppa go, he just doesnt seem to have the pace anymore and seems to lack confidence.A great shame as he was so good at Manly.Having two years off hasnt helped him. We are paying him way over his worth.

Toutai and Folau have been tried this year but I dont think they are up to first grade at the moment.

      So please Parramatta resign Robbo

  • Reece Robinson played well at the start of the year on the right wing and I do think that it is his best position. Then you have Faraimo who has played really well when called on and I think he has been unlucky not to play more game time this year due to 2nd tier rubbish. So those are the only two who will have to fight it out if Reece is re-signed otherwise it's Burretas wing for sure.

Right hand centre will be a difficult one, it really does all come down to Hoppa, if he goes for a straight swap for Tim Lafai then I would be throwing Lafai straight in, he's big strong fast everything we need out wide. But if he doesn't swap and hoppa goes that leaves out with our Juniors. Toutai, Folau, Goodall. Personally out of those 3 it would be folau for me. He hasn't set the world on fire he looks a bit slow, BUT I think with a good preseason in that position and some sprint training he could be a good prospect in the right centre position. He has the size, strength everything a centre needs. You can see when he played his debut game he carried 3-4 players over the line both times he scored, so he defiantly has the strength and power.

    • Falou just too slow for me and drifts in and out of games. Have always liked Goodall, big and fast, would like to see him get some fg experience. Another player worth looking at is the fish from the Warriors who has 2 very good centres ahead of him there. Robinson needs to be resigned for the wing, his speed is invaluable which we badly need. He is just not a fullback.

  • Folau, Faraimo combo next year hopefully not much speed but got lots of strength & Morgan,French as back ups
    • Drew & Thompson young off contract & have plenty of talent
  • Good question. I do think the bigger issue here is that who comes in when they are injured as when was the last time you didn't have at least one back (left or right) injured? But alas...

Burrito on the right wing, with Tim Lafai in centre if he comes or Hopoate.

If Hopoate stays he ain't being paid to bench warm and if Lafai comes he is a walk up start over anyone else at the club plus he has played a full season there which important.

  • Our glaring weakness even this year with Hoppa. A decent right side attacking style centre (like a Blake Ferguson) should be number 1 priority on our shopping list.

So depending on outcome of Hoppa's contract, we either don't improve (ie. Hoppa stays or worse we go backwards to Morgan) or there is a specialist right side centre signing on the cards already.

    Am hoping for the latter.
