Ricky's NRL Interviews Pt 5: Matt 'Sheep' Fuller

The latest player answered the questions I sent to them, none other than Matt 'Sheep' Fuller.
Some of you may remember him from his Canterbury Bulldogs, St George Dragons, Western Reds, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and the Western Magpies.

So read, enjoy and let me know what you think.

  • Hey Ricky, well done. Matty Fuller was a fit player, and my history goes back to when we played against him in the junior leagues; he played for Eaglevale (C'town area) and us Ingleburn. He was always a superb and fit player; and played tough but fair. Fuller played for St Gregs too and they were always v strong, and beat us in the round 4-5 of Commonwealth bank cup in those days; well done Ricky and good work. Great memories.

    • Thanks, Mitchy.

Nice! Yeah, you can definitely tell that fitness was a big part of his rugby league career and personal life just from his responses.
It's always good to see a player utilise their knowledge of something to move forward into a career post-footy and make the most of it.

That's some great backstory as well. Really appreciate you sharing that.

  • No problem, and looking at him he still looks fit. Matt played with another guy Michael Kirkman i think and he also played ARL back then....he was also from C'Town area.

His older brother (name recall?) played Metro cup (remember this?) for Wests, back when Tommy was coach of Maggies at C'Town. I can still recall seeing Tommy on the back of a car through Queen st C'Town with mega phone...

    • Yeah, I think the photo I used in the article is one from one of his recent Telethons.

      Haha, good times to reminisce.

I probably could do one on Paul Kent but given he's a journalist, he's probably less likely to actually agree to it.

      • Re: Kent, it may be a little short too

        • Haha, exactly.
There'd be about 2 RL related questions at best, lol.

  • Ricky, surely you have to do one of these on our mate P Kent?

  • Great interview Rick - I really enjoy these and hope you keep posting them.

Jeez - a  24 hour spin class - i'm shot after ten minutes!!!!!

    • Thanks, Kram.
Yeah, as the players gradually get back to me, I'll keep posting them all up.

Once they all do, there's at least another 20 to come, some of whom have played for the Eels. I said they can answer in their own time so it makes sense they'd take a few weeks or so to get back to me given they're busy with their families and their lives.

  • Never heard of him . Does take me back to my childhood days though when we had a kid in the neighbor hood named Paul Fuller and we used to call him " Fuller Dicks "
