Now who could the underachieving club be. The 4 major disappointments in the last few years are Wests - Parramatta  - Titans  - Dragons .  4 clubs only

1. Tigers no

2. Dragons identified the coach as the major issue and have had change and are banking on some top notch  new recruits and a young developing pack.  They look set. They've released a lot of pressure and the major backers may be settled for now.

3. Titans are settled and are improving roster wise,  they have solid backers and have brought in some experienced heads to guide the club. They've had coaching change and he is finding his feet and there's been positive signs with some good wins of late.

4. The only other struggling club is Parramatta . Both our ceo and hof are under immense pressure,  and have made more bad decisions than  great ones.   Our recruitment plan has also been very underwhelming and there's talks of a major review happening. They've made a good decision to get Ryles but that alone won't save them imo

We're odds on to be the club.  rumoured

Parramatta  are $1.01

  • Well I heard there's some investigation regarding everyone in the club by the Mole, it could be us

  • There is no club that comes close to Parra when it comes to underachievers. A massive league nursery, massive fan base, profitable leagues club, most expensive centre of excellence, and zero title in 40 years

    • We need a circuit breaker mate. How can fans and sponsors be supportive what's happening. The roster Ryles was left with,  and the major clean out needed can't all be blamed on Arthur as they claimed.  But what was the final nail in the coffin was that there were next to nobody coming through who could replace them.

Our reserve grade squad has been a total basket case for years, and until Ryles cleaned them out Reserve grade was a holding yard for used rejected players from other clubs.

How the fk anyone could support this situation beats me

  • Surely you don't announce the "most wide reaching investigation in the clubs history" and a few weeks later look at someone as a potential replacement?

Get someone to perform this proper investigation, get the findings, then address the findings. And if Richo or someone of that ilk is the answer to some of the findings...then move heaven and earth to get them here.

But for goodness sake don't announce an investigation and then start conversations about answers before you even know the questions.

I'd love to have Richo in our ranks, but the only way this happens is if the Board are going to roll the entire administration, cancel their investigation, and then give the reigns to someone new who can then choose if they want to do their own investigation or not. I seriously cannot see that happening, our board is not so reactive and rookie to cause chaotic waves like that.

Long way of me saying - if this is true, I doubt it's about us. If this "investigation" is real then it will be completed before any changes are proposed or any conversations are had.

    • Though Cap, I also think it could be possible that names can be presented before the review incase the finding are what they seem. If that's the case, why not jump the ball rolling?

      • Or maybe Richo is doing the investigation, which would make sense, but that of course would rule him out of any permanent position at the club. The above just says he could be returning to the NRL. In what capacity?

        • The investigation the eels are taking is an internal one. It has nothing to do with hiring anybody externally,

          • Who's leading the investigation? I hope they know what they are doing. It's easy to overlook issues if you are used to them as being part of the furniture. A fresh set of eyes can uncover issues you didn't even know existed.

          • Whoever leaked the "internal investigation" piece to the news could have been trying to stop this in it's tracks. It's straight out of the old executive playbook - call for an audit/investigation on yourself to buy time to engineer an outcome.

So maybe the internal investigation wasn't a Board initiated play...and maybe conversations with externals is a Board initiated play.

All I can say is if we are the folks sounding out Richo, then there's some Board vs Exec games going on. I wonder...

        • Perhaps, that would make sense.
