It took 24 years but I feel in some way we got sweet revenge over Newcastle for the 2001 Grand Final. I remember we knocked them out of the 2021 finals series but something about this game felt more appropriate. Newcastle needing to win to avoid the wooden spoon, us beating them by 66-10 at our own stadium and the result meaning it's now five wooden spoons for Newcastle, it doesn't get any better than that.
I remember the 2001 season and grand final well, being 14 year old and sat in front of the telly, excited at the prospect of Parramatta winning a premiership only for it to be stolen away from us. It was our moment, our time, and Newcastle took what was meant to be a special night and ruined it forever. But looking at Newcastle's situation, it seems ever since they won in 2001, nothing but bad luck has happened to them. It's almost like the movie Final Destination where the characters try to alter what it meant to happen and it causes horrible consequences. Since they won in 2001, within five year Johns was retired due to injury, they've come last five times, the closest they came to a grand final was 2013 where they got battered in the preliminary final, they've had issues with the ownership, multiple head coaches, it's like by them winning in 2001, it caused some sort bad spell to hang over them. I'm not complaining though, it's good to see them suffer.

No one is going to really care too much about the result in a few weeks! It pales into insignificance when compared to a grand final win/loss!
The point is; people will always remember who wins/loses a grand final! Perhaps a defeat in a grand final could be considered parity or "revenge" as you describe, but anything less is a moot point!
