Its a tough issue but one we need to consider and think about with a very clear view.
Brad Arthur needs to decide whether we want to retain juniors or go on a spending spree after we cut a few dead weights.
My opinion is we go on a 70% retention strategy with a 30% strategy focusing on recruiting 1 back rower and 1 hard hitting forward.
Junior Paulo and Pauli Pauli should be our priority long term with John Falou, Evand Cummins and Toby Evans following.
We need to cut Paulo, Laslao, Fui, Kelly and Smith. Thats got to be 600K right there. With that money we should go after a hard hitting prop and a decent back rower. Someone who will play for the club not for the money and solid in defence.
Just some thoughts

We don't need anyone, we have all the players we need, lets invest in juniors.

Retention + Recruitment + Development.
That's the best way to make a first grade team Frank. If there's someone that is awesome that is off-contract and we have the money to get them then you should go for them but the only way you'll have the money to get a top player is to have enough juniors on less money so you have cap space. You can't constantly buy players in and you can't constantly rely on juniors. If any club (but the Broncos) did that they would be in dire straits.
i think this year will see some players leave and us buying no one and next year lot more players leaveing and us buying no one not becuase they wont to because they have to becuase have no money keep them so we going to be fuck again in 2016
Maybe that's why we're over the cap next year? We've front-loaded so many contracts that we're over the cap.
But the cap is going up. We can't have seriously blown it out already given the amount of player movements in the last 2 years
Every contract is mainly based on percentage rather than a set salary over the period. As the salary cap increases so does every player's salary.
