The Eels bound Kieran Foran played half back against the Cowboys to-night. Generally, he played most of the time in the five-eight position!! He fed the scrums on a few occasions. His passing game was good--as it usually is. He defended well also. He tried many times to run the ball but not once did he break the line. This is a feature of his attacking game, nothing new there either. That he can`t break the line comes from his lack of speed, nothing new there, also. He kicked fairly well a few times. He was one of the better Manly players. Unfortunately, he cost Manly the game. With about thirty seconds to go with Manly in front and in the Cowboys 20 metre zone and on the 5th tackle and Foran in possession, he ran with the ball going for a try. He was caught--because of his lack of speed--and died with the ball!!! The Cowboys played the ball and went the length of the field to score and hit the front.!! Foran could of,and should of, ,put it in goal and get the ball back from a Cowboys kick off under the posts. A mistake a green- horn U20`s player might make--most would not.
At the present time, I think Norman is a better proposition than Foran. It was Forans first game back since a hamstring injury, and he was limping sometimes during the game. So with more games under his belt he may show form superior to that of Norman. For what it is worth, I am not a Norman hater nor am I a Norman lover.

Foran is the current New Zealand five-eighth. Last week we were about to lynch Norman. Foran did not lose Manly the match, their entire side did. They had 90 metres to defend one set and couldn't manage it. Now Foran probably took the wrong option but it's not the reason they lost. You never know what could've happened if he kicked it. If he over kicks it they've got to defend 80 metres with a seven tackle set. Thurston is a freak so there's no guarantee they would've got the ball from the drop out. Rob, go and have a couple of drinks, go to bed and then re-think this in the morning.
Yeah good point - the 'backflip window' is still open. Even if he does come to the Eels, I feel it's a risk spending so money on one player.
lol...thats all i have to say for dribble..Foran is class
Unfortunately NZ have a few games over in England during the pre-season. Fortunately Foran may be able to rule himself out.
