Rep Round - Time to reflect on season thus far

So with the rep round upon us and a week off for our beloved team, how are we all feeling about where the team is currently at table wise 7th (5 from 9) and football wise? I'm sure most would agree that the game last week (yes even though Cowboys were missing a lot of their star players) was the best all round performance so far.I was really impressed with the forwards; Nathan Brown how much does he love just playing football and running the ball back hard?

I think during rounds 3 to 6 we were just trying to score off every play; considering how well we dominated the Dragons in round 2, the boys were lulled into a false sense of security, which resulted in the team forgetting the basic's of rugby league...case in question the titans game. The last 3 weeks has seen a return back to the basics, the forwards winning over the opposition; which gives our halves all that freedom to maneuver our backline into try scoring plays. Michael Jennings' effort this last 3 weeks has been outstanding, I hope he isn't doing a Jarryd Hayne and only turn up a few weeks out from SOO? Only time will tell on this concern.

Hopefully whatever the team has done to turn around that horrible 4 week spell can remain. Really looking forward to the Roosters game, last years was a classic game.

  • The only really disappointing loss for me was against the titans. Last weeks game was definitely a joy to watch. It's all about playing smart; no forced offloads, no silly penalties etc.

Very interested to see how we go against the chooks, if we beat them by more than 8 then we overtake them on the ladder and are up there with the top 4!

    GO PARRAAA

    • Agree TB. We are either world beaters or pure shite. We need a balance in between

  • Me too!

  • when other than the titans game would u say we were pure shit i can understand low quality but not shit let alone pure shit

  • We are on 10 competition points with 3 other teams.

Our MAGNIFICENT F/A sees us sitting in 7th spot.

We need to do a LOT BETTER if we think we can be competitive come the long weekend in October.

    Unacceptable in my book.

There is NO reason - only excuses - as to why we are not sitting on (at least) 14 points.

Jennings always plays well when rep selection time comes round and will go back to his usual ball hog self after teams are picked.

You missed the point with Nathan Brown which was commented on by Gus - Arthur has not only got him running hard he now PASSES the ball which makes him more dangerous for the opposition. Any mug can smash into the defence, a real player will not only do that, but get a pass away to his support running into the gaps he can create.

A weeks rest should do our guys good, as long as they do not continue the holiday into Rd 10.

    • Agreed, once again we have lost a few of them should have won games and it always seems to hurt us towards the end when we miss out on the finals by 2 points .
  • Happy that we're 2 points from the top 4 and that we've strung 3 in a row together. Sure the last 3 weren't the most polished but at least each was an improvement on the last.
Every team has a few crap games in each season so not too worried about the ones so far. If we keep playing for 80 and don't lose Norman or those mentioned above it'll be a good season I reckon.
    Go you good thing!!!
  • I think we are well placed. We won't be heavily affected like other teams through the rep season. Expect Parra to continue climbing the ladder.

As for the footy we have been playing, its a different story. Apart from the Dragons game we haven't really looked like contenders. Our wins over the Tigers and Panthers were scrappy at best, and our defence hasn't reached the standard of last year.

There was improvement against Cows and I expect that to continue. Kaysa is improving as has Normans game management. If that can continue we will be in the thick of it come September.
