  It's the loss of comradery that most struggle with, having been part of something for so long and then all of a sudden, not. It's akin to grief really.

  I suppose we are all synced to be wanted , part of something be it work , family , sport. Pub or whatever . Purpose to get up and get out of the door each day . Take that away and people struggle . I think the top sports stars have better pathways to success after retirement than just joe blow .
  
  Cooper Cronk will make just as much post footy as he made in it . Smith , slater the same . The guy that played 40 games with no skill set or connections post footy is the vulnerable one

  Depression can hit anyone, and often doesn't really have a reason why.

  Too many concussions can also lead to depression , among other cognitive and psychological problems.

    Also concussions could be connected to early dementia, but studies are not complete yet.
