Remote voting now on the agenda

This week the club had its first PDRL board meeting and I checked in with Sharpy who assures me that the question I asked at the AGM asking the club to ensure that those people who were not in Sydney would have the opportunity to vote next time round had been tabled and that Bob Bentley and Ken Edwards have been given responsibility to looking into what can be put in place.

Ken Edwards has previously told me he would like to see all members be able to vote so the fact that it's now gone beyond board level to the operational managers is a great step in making this happen. As a membership base you now have the opportunity to apply pressure to these guys to make sure it happens. We should aim to get a commitment on the issue before the next AGM, and if its not in place by that stage I'll get it tabled again but with a commitment to report back to the membership.

As such, I encourage everyone to take up a membership this year so that you're in position to have your vote into the future. If you're in Sydney, please do take up the current offer in place by the club to get dual membership as pointed out by Perfecta:

http://www.1eyedeel.com/forum/topics/discounted-eels-membership-20-for-eels-leagues

$20 for dual membership is basically a give-away.

If you're out of Sydney and find the non-ticketed or regional memberships overly expensive, just a reminder that you can just join the football club (I think its $25 based on what was in the annual report). And if you ever pop into Sydney remember you can get a Perpetual Leagues club membership for about $100.

As an incentive to join, we'll be starting a members-only group on 1Eyed Eel where we'll move a lot of the off-field/political discussions. PM me if you'd like to join that and anyone who does so can have one of our spunky ParraFirst hats as well.

I think the best thing to happen about the recent election is that a lot of people will have developed an appreciation for the fact that if you want to change the club, you've got to get membership. And that's going to include voting for out-of-Sydney members if it kills me.

  • Already done.on my part. Cheers Phil. Love your dedication and I stand behind your cause.

  • Being a member of this site and reading all the blogs and replies has shown me that the best way for me to support the Eels is to become a member. I live about 6 hours from Parramatta and only get to a few games, but i beleive my non-ticketed membership is the way to go. Not sure if Ken can get the 20,000 for next year but i like the buzz he has created. I encourage all who can, to join.

    Go the Mighty Eels.

  • Good news, i have been a football club members for about 6 years but living out of Sydney haven't been able to get down to vote at a AGM but if we could somehow vote online or postal that would be awesome.

  • LMAO Phil.

If you live outside of Sydney you have Buckley's of signing up for membership because the club wants you to go to reception to verify your identity.

Only option is the "Country" membership I think but I have not tried to sign up for that little rip off.

Waiting to hear back from the club on how I can take up this $20 dual membership deal from QueeRZland.

Don't hold your breath - it is starting to look like smoke and mirrors from the outset.

  • PNG Eels would like membership & the right to vote. Whats the best membership deal??

    • Same as the rest of us who live outside of Sydney vlozy. - NONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1eyed if I get my membership now, will I be entitled to vote at the next elections ? Although I hate to support 3P by getting my membership , the bright side is I can cast my vote next elections to boot these 3P clowns out!

  • Hey D - have you noticed I have given Crow some of my "angry" mushrooms - finally he has realised what I have been ranting about for months.

You forgot the rest of the equation Crow with getting to the TWO free home games at Parra - airfares, or fuel for the car, accommodation and the TIME needed to organise and take this trip to a free seat (which we PAY for) at PS

Which two games of the 8 scheduled at PS would you attend Crow?

  • Here, here!
