Do you remember when Stephen Kearney arrived and from all reports was going to be a key factor in us signing NZ representatives and top tier players and a club fighting for finals, and what did we get, or rather, what did we become? a retirement village and fighting off the threat of the wooden spoon (if you've tried to forget those times).
Then with Ricky Stuart we were promised top tier players and informed that many NSW representatives players would want to play for Ricky Stuart because of their past experiences. We were also promised a return to the glory days with a signing that was the best since Jack Gibson. I do not even remember signing anyone of note while Ricky was at the club. Unless we count Peats, who never played under the master coach. And the only thing we won was a brand new wooden spoon
Now we have Brad Arthur, we weren't promised players and trophies and glory from the off, we were promised improvement, consistency, a hard working team looking to earn back the respect of its fan base. Apart from consistency (and I don't believe its far away) we have seen all those. The difference between the previous two "super coaches" is that we now have a coach who players want to play for.
We have already seen, a NSW representative come in, and potentially a NZ rep who who could arguably become one of, if not the best player in the game. This coach has been able to deliver what the other two promised.
Future is looking bright ladies and gents, lets enjoy the ride.
