Referee Conspiracy?

I have noticed, or am I just being a biased fan, that ever since we were docked the 12 points the referees appear to be against us. In the Cronulla game in the first half they received several penalties for us taking too long in a tackle which relieved the pressure we were putting them under. Later on a blatant forward pass and an obvious dropped ball both led to Cronulla tries. And in the media not ONE single mention of these, all they talked about was Cronulla winning 12(?) in a row! Yet a mention for every other team, you know a 'controversial try', if a dodgy try awarded.

There has been knock ons in the play the ball by our opponents not called and every 50/50 call seems to go against us. Last nite what about when Parra player attempted to pick up ball but lost it forward and Wicks penalised for offside. Didn't the knock on come first, whatever happens after that regarding Parra players is ignored?

Then last nite the most disgraceful  act of all, a push in the back, reviewed by the bunker, was allowed to happen leading to a try. It didn't change to result as we had already lost. But how many times in the past has a hand been placed on someone competing for the ball, irrespective if force applied or not, and penalty issued?

WTF is going on, or am I just imagining this?

  • Not to mention naiqama picked up a tigers knock on from an offside position but was allowed to run 60 meters before being tackled and allowed to play on.

I admit we should of lost last night as we had plenty of opportunities we just dont have creativty to score however we got fucked by the refs something fierce.
  • I think that in the past few weeks the agenda was to stop us. However, yesterday, the clear agenda was to advance the tigers. Look at the current top eight. Only two Sydney teams and one of them, the sharks, hardly anyone gives a phuck about. The other, bulldogs, everyone but thier own supporters hate. So currently we have two Sydney teams that will only attract their own supporter base in the finals. Well, there go the rating for channel nines finals in Sydney. The push is to get the tigers of If need be, Manly, into the eight in order to keep some of Sydney fans interested in the finals series.
The NRL, so wisely, crippled the golden goose and now they are desparately trying to promote mediocre teams like the tigers to try and appear to have and equally Sydney, Melbourne, Queensland centric comp.
    Its is just so ammateurish.

The Refereeing Crisis - It's Real!
Without doubt, being an NRL referee would be a tough gig. Every decision, every error, winds up under the microscope and you certainly don’t find soc…
    • Wow! Good site sixties!
Why didn't you tell us about earlier.
  • Lets not forget the penalty for a rake and mannah says it was a loose carry and peranara says yeah I know and then goes no it was a strip lol.
  • Biased fan. Every fan at every club will tell you exactly the same thing.
  • Happened right in front of me.

Yet when Robson dived on the ball that had been knocked on they got a penalty.

Was Robsons a penalty yes but so was Moses

  • Wick WAS offside and they got that call 100% correct. However they missed Naiqama clearly offside in first half which lead to points for tigers. And they missed Moses being clearly offside from a dropped bomb by the Tigers. The refereeing last night was totally inadequate, but Archer will defend them and they will be refereeing next week
    • Brett, I certainly agree that there is no conspiracy. Like you said, far too many people would need to be involved. But I don't believe referees are that incompetent. I do believe referees have some sort of bias, whether it is conscious or subconscious. I think more needs to be done to address this. Trent Robinson complained earlier this year about Cummins. Facts certainly supported his theory. It's not too much to ask for a certain level of professionalism from NRL officials and I believe a certain level of sports psychology would help referees address this. Tony Archer needs to go. The NRL needs some fresh ideas helping these referees and these can come from any sporting organisation not just NRL. Cricket has just as many if not more tough decisions to make and I believe Cricket has made massive steps forward with its umpires even down to grade level. Tony Archer is part of the problem not part of the solution
    • But isn't the knock-on the first error, and unless the opposition pick up the ball, whatever happens after that is immaterial?

I'm not disputing Wicks was offside, I'm saying there were 2 errors from Parra but only the first one should count.

Its a bit different if the ball hits a Parra player and then an offside Parra player grabs the ball.
