So it's the time of year when we start to switch attention to the possibilities of the new season.
It's very easy to put the blue and gold glasses on and see only positives I like many have gone to the Cumberland throw and read the training reports ill admit I enjoy them but do take them as with a grain of salt about 5 years ago I saw a eels and a roosters training in the same week and was not impressed with what I saw at ours yet read this glowing report on there site this isn't a dig at the boys at the the other site i do like the site and I post on it etc..
But based on where we have been the last few years to how we look on paper we have had a big upheaval a mix of youth and experience the usual Parramatta board shite contracts with options etc are always hanging over us.
For me a finals appearance would be a over achievement i think a reasonable expectation/pass mark for me is 50% win rate if that makes a finals thats great but if they can win half the games that shows they are moving in the right direction.

So many unknown variables this season.Id like to see us competing to be in the 8 in the final rounds.
If we squeeze into the 8 Id conider that a success.
8th and above: Very succesful.
A win or less off 8th place: Very good, success/
10th - 12th: Pass. Depends on how our style has developed with it.
13th and below: Not a pass, but comes with caveats. If we finish here but show certain signs, or injuries have hit us or we decided to blood rookies, or we are trying to hone in a specific style etc........
I expect: The 10th-12th option.
It's a bit tricky, but necessary, to understand we are in transition but that we still have exepctations and standards. One of the best signs so far from Ryles is he has been walking that tightrope well polemically. We'll see.
Pretty spot on I reckon.
Hopefully we get in the 8 but that's me being optimistic.
I guess my winning of the minor premiership and making the GF is over optimistic....don't understand why?
I think realistically, 10th is the pass mark. A very small part of me thinks 7th.
How quickly things change, this time last season, and the same question, "what is a pass mark" with BA as coach, and a far insuperior side, the consensus was if we don't finish in the top 2, or top 4 at worst, it is a failure. Now with a far superior team, people are happy to finish just outside the 8, go figure.
Agree with the sentiment Michael, but for me it is just that there has been so much change - much needed change - in such a short period of time, it will take time for things to gel and settle, which may be too late in the season to make top 8.
Comparing to the Bulldogs after Ciraldo/Gould took over, it took them two seasons to start looking competitive
Micheal, "far insuperior" describes not only our prev team,
I thought you would use the word inferior, repeatadly just like mummy used to
A pass mark. Top 4 Prelim final. I cant help but think.
We have the NSW/ Australian halfback in Moses
We have the New zealand 5/8 in Brown
We have the NSW / Australian Winger playing centre in Lomax
We have former NSW / Australian winger in Josh Ado Carr
We have former NSW player Matterson
We have former Queensland and Tonga rep Joe Ofahenqaue
We have NSW Rep in Junior Paulo
We have Queensland Rep in J'Maine Hopgood
and Samoan Rep Kelma Tuilagi
Now thats some serious experience and firepower. Why cant we get into the top 4. Hell find a Hooker and prey that Iongi is the real deal and we should be aiming for the GF.
We have all those, but other teams have similar quality and more.
I won't be surprised if we finish 5th/6th, I think we have it in us.
